Job DescriptionJob Title: Facilities Maintenance TechnicianJob Description The Facilities Maintenance Technician maintains and improves a nationwide network of office locations by performing hands-on maintenance, repairs, and light construction tasks. This role installs TVs and other electronic devices, assembles office furniture, completes painting and wall repairs, and supports general building upkeep. The technician travels frequently across the North East to ensure each office operates safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards, while also supporting the identification and setup of new office spaces as the organization expands. Responsibilities • Install and mount TVs, cameras, and other electronic devices in various office locations, ensuring secure and accurate installation according to safety and operational guidelines., • Perform wall painting and touch-ups to maintain a clean and professional office appearance, including patching holes and repairing minor wall imperfections., • Assemble office furniture such as chairs, desks, tables, and other furnishings, ensuring all items are built accurately, safely, and according to specifications., • Oversee maintenance projects from initiation to completion, including planning, scheduling, and tracking progress to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget., • Develop project plans, allocate resources, and coordinate with internal stakeholders to achieve maintenance and facilities objectives., • Collaborate with office management teams to schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks based on operational needs and urgency., • Provide regular updates to office management and facilities leadership on the status of ongoing projects and maintenance activities., • Perform routine inspections of office facilities to proactively identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and opportunities for improvement., • Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical issues, including minor wiring, fixtures, and related components within the scope of facilities maintenance., • Diagnose and repair basic plumbing issues such as leaks, clogs, and fixture malfunctions., • Support HVAC maintenance by addressing basic issues and coordinating more complex repairs with specialized vendors when necessary., • Perform minor carpentry tasks, including repairs to doors, frames, trim, and other structural elements., • Handle basic locksmith tasks, such as adjusting or replacing locks and hardware as needed., • Carry out general handyman duties to support the overall functionality and appearance of office spaces., • Perform outdoor maintenance around office entrances and parking lots to ensure safe and presentable exterior areas., • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety standards, building codes, and local regulations., • Follow safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment to maintain a safe working environment for both staff and visitors., • Manage inventory of tools, supplies, and materials required for maintenance tasks, ensuring adequate stock levels., • Inspect, maintain, and properly store tools and equipment to keep them in safe and reliable working condition., • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance tasks or larger repair projects., • Oversee vendor work to ensure it meets quality expectations, safety requirements, and agreed timelines., • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including tasks performed, time spent, and materials used., • Prepare and provide regular reports to facilities leadership on maintenance status, completed work, and upcoming needs., • Travel frequently across the North East to support multiple office locations, responding to both scheduled and urgent maintenance requests., • Adapt work hours and scheduling as needed to accommodate urgent maintenance needs and support offices in different time zones., • Support the identification and setup of new office spaces by assessing facility needs, coordinating installations, and ensuring readiness for occupancy.Essential Skills, • Demonstrated expertise in electrical systems, including safe operation, troubleshooting, and basic repair within a facilities environment., • Strong understanding of safety protocols and maintenance practices essential for efficient and compliant facilities operations., • Proven experience in facilities maintenance, handyman services, or a closely related role., • Solid knowledge of general maintenance procedures, including basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems., • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance equipment safely and effectively., • Proficiency in painting, including surface preparation, touch-ups, and finishing work., • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions., • High attention to detail to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety and operational standards., • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with office management, staff, vendors, and other stakeholders., • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks and priorities., • Strong time management skills to organize workload and meet deadlines across multiple locations., • Willingness and ability to travel frequently and work in different office environments across the North East., • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record., • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as needed., • Comfort working at heights, including on ladders or scaffolding, to perform installations and maintenance tasks., • Physical ability to perform tasks that require bending, stooping, climbing, and standing for extended periods., • Experience with preventive maintenance and routine inspections in a facilities or maintenance technician role., • Competence in basic mechanical and repair tasks related to building systems and office equipment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • High school diploma or equivalent., • Technical or vocational training in facilities maintenance or a related field is a plus., • Experience coordinating with vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance and repair work., • Background in locksmith tasks, including basic lock adjustments and replacements, is beneficial., • Familiarity with inventory management for tools, parts, and maintenance supplies., • Experience documenting maintenance activities and preparing status reports for leadership., • Exposure to working across multiple locations or a distributed office network., • Comfort using basic technology and communication tools to receive work Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hackensack, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
