Position Summary: The Crime Victims Advocate will provide specialized services for older adult crime victims, including information and referral, case assistance, individual and family counseling, crime victims' compensation claims assistance, crisis intervention, and crime prevention workshops. This role requires strong collaboration with agencies such as the Bronx District Attorney's Office, the Office of Victim Services, and NYC Aging to ensure victims receive timely and effective intervention. This position requires home visits throughout the Bronx and may involve escorting clients to precincts or courts, which could involve walking up and down stairs and carrying items up to 5lbs. The advocate must be able to travel and work in a hybrid capacity and attend in-person training, meetings, or outreach events as assigned. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct in-home or office assessments and develop safety plans for crime victims., • Provide case assistance, including information and referrals, benefits and entitlement assistance, supportive contact, advocacy, counseling, and crisis intervention., • Escort clients to criminal court, NYPD precincts, and other necessary locations. Summary Job Description: Performs professional-level casework duties in providing services for children, biological, and foster parents or planning resources under the care of the agency; performs related work as required in providing permanency planning to expedite the safe discharge of children from the foster care system.
