About this role: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Economic Empowerment Program Advocate to join our team on a full-time, one-year contract basis. This is a full-time position with comprehensive benefits consistent with our organization’s full-time employment package. At the conclusion of the one-year term, there may be an opportunity to transition the role into a permanent position, contingent upon program capacity and funding. The Advocate will report to the Senior Manager of the Economic Empowerment Program and will work collaboratively with the larger Sakhi team to ensure services to survivors are being delivered in a timely and effective manner. Position Responsibilities Case Management, Cross-Organizational Programming & Advocacy * Provide holistic and trauma-informed case management services by collaboratively developing and implementing both short-term and long-term financial empowerment goals with Survivors. * Provide assistance and advocacy to Survivors navigating the Human Resource Administration (HRA) documentation and application process. * Accompany and/or provide advocacy for survivors to HRA offices, financial clinics, and tax clinics when required * Assist with career readiness activities, including referrals to job training workshops, and assistance with resume and cover letters * Assist survivors in their higher educational pursuits by researching academic programs, available scholarships, and grants as needed * Refer and guide survivors through vocational training programs such as computer training, ESL classes, culinary schools, etc, as needed * Coordinate with interns and volunteers for EE program activities * Assist other Sakhi team members with cross-organizational efforts Program Documentation and Development * Maintain up-to-date records of all survivor-related work/activities through efficient data collection in Salesforce * Compile and provide program data and reports as needed for projects and grants * Attend weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly team and staff meetings and check-ins to foster understanding, communication, and growth as a team member * Participate in interagency meetings, trainings, and workshops pertinent to economic empowerment services provided at Sakhi * Pursue additional education (in-services, seminars, self-study programs) to advance skills and knowledge * Support monitoring and evaluation activities through post-workshop surveys, feedback collection, and highlighting key activities to strengthen program design. Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience * Minimum of 2-5 years of case management experience working with survivors of gender-based violence * Fluency in at least one South Asian language required * A background in gender justice is preferred * Experience with community-based work and ability to engage with diverse communities and audiences * U.S. Work authorization required * Experience working with multiple staff, volunteers, and program responsibilities * Ability to work well under pressure and juggle multiple time-sensitive tasks * Ability to work through flexible hours and meet deadlines * Strong interpersonal, writing, and organization skills preferred * Excellent public speaking skills and leadership qualities are preferred This is a full-time role (35 hours a week) that requires flexibility with the schedule. Sakhi’s office hours are Monday - Friday, 10 am-6 pm, and the offices are closed the last week of August and the last week of December. Job Description Title: Case Manager, East NY Community Benefits Assistance Program Reports To: SENIOR PROGRAM DIRECTOR, Community Benefits Assistance Program (CBAP) Location: 2588 Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11207 Salary: $48,000–$55,000/year Hours: 35 Hours/Week; Non-Exempt (Mon – Fri, 10 AM – 6 PM) Position Summary: The Case Manager assists participants with a wide array of social services, including screening for appropriate government benefits, application and re-certification assistance for varied services and benefits, accessing affordable housing, applying for citizenship and other immigration services, referrals to public benefits agencies, advocacy for benefits and services, and community outreach to inform about the program’s services. The Case Manager will also work on the DYCD-NDA (Healthy Families) program, providing services similar to those of the CBAP. This is a contract position with an assignment end date of June 31, 2027. Job Description Overview: The Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) of Rising Ground understands the importance of removing barriers to care and providing trauma-informed services. Through this dedication, the TRC aims to transform services for survivors of violent crime. Rising Ground’s TRC is designed to help victims of violent crimes overcome barriers to accessing mental health treatment, health care, and legal resources in the acute aftermath of trauma. The TRC supports recent victims of violent crime, including survivors of physical assault, sexual assault, gun shot wounds, stabbings, domestic violence and human trafficking. The Trauma Recovery Center facilitates healing for survivors of trauma, violence, and loss through an innovative model that blends comprehensive care, advocacy and outreach. Position Summary: The Lead Clinical Social Worker/Therapist of the Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) will provide clinical intakes, assessments, planning and implementing individual and group psychotherapy, assertive outreach, and clinical case management services, using evidence based practices that are effective for the service population and supervise other clinicians as needed. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for social justice and anti-oppressive practice, ample experience providing clinical services to survivors of trauma, and a desire to work collaboratively with a team of creative and committed advocates. About this role: We are looking for a full-time, Family Mental Health Counselor within Sakhi’s program: The Ramesh and Kalpana Bhatia Family Foundation South Asian Safe Families Initiative. The short-term goal of the program is to strengthen the bonds between primary caregivers, children and families with the long-term aim of reducing future generational cycles of violence through culturally informed research and service provision. The Family Mental Health Counselor will report to the Associate Director of Counseling and will work with South Asian & Indo-Caribbean survivors of gender-based violence. The ideal candidate will: * Support in the development of family mental health services at Sakhi and further development of the South Asian Safe Families Initiative; * Identify and share new effective approaches to disrupting intergenerational cycles of violence in South Asian & Indo-Caribbean immigrant families nationally and globally; * Collaborate with a partner researcher to develop psychoeducational programs for Sakhi caregivers, modify evidence-based models for a South Asian cultural context, modify materials (e.g. manuals), and implement survivor-centered evaluation practices of our short and long-term goals; * Provide culturally-appropriate, trauma-informed, holistic counseling services to families who have experienced gender-based violence and/or intergenerational trauma; * Encourage limited English proficient survivors to discuss emotions and experiences in a language most comfortable for them; * Provide psychoeducation to survivors on the impact of trauma and common reactions to abuse and violence; * Help survivors understand power and control dynamics and cycles of violence within their relationships, and create safety plans as needed for emotional and physical health; * Develop therapeutic processes with survivors to help define goals, gain insight, and plans for life after therapy; * Help survivors learn tools to manage the intensity of their trauma reactions; * Examine issues including substance abuse, aging, bullying, anger management, careers, depression, relationships, LGBTQ issues, self-image, stress and suicide; * Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed in order to comply with changes in clients' status; * Advocate for survivors to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations; * Gather information about community mental health needs and resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy; * Refer survivors to community resources or specialists as necessary; * Collaborate with other Sakhi staff for referrals and to streamline survivor services and programs; * Evaluate the effectiveness of family counseling programs and survivors' progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives; * Plan, organize and lead structured workshops, series and/or support groups of counseling for survivors; * Learn about new developments in their field by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, and establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies; * Maintain confidentiality of survivor experiences and records at all times. Duties and Responsibilities: • Assess and refer children/individual/families to supportive and concrete services, housing, financial assistance, education, substance use, mental health, medical, immigration, legal, etc., • Provide case planning, assessment, crisis intervention, establish goals and objectives and counseling services for families who have a child at risk of Foster Care placement., • Conduct assessments of families within 30 days of intake and reviewed review and update in 6months after intake., • Participate and attend all ACS, OCFS, Agency and Model Developer trainings as requested or required., • Provide crisis intervention and counseling services to children, teens, individuals and families., • Collaborate with program case aide in supporting families in obtaining resources, support services, and advocacy assistance., • Collaborate with ACS to monitor compliance with mandated services, and family attendance of court hearings., • Collaborate with ACS legal team to assure all service needs are being addressed by families., • Document and maintains all mandated tracking logs/excel sheets, case record electronic systems, and document in a timely manner., • Complete all program required paperwork, i.e., Progress Notes, Program Family Assessments, Family Assessment Service Plans (FASPs), and other reporting requirements., • Request, participate, facilitate and or attended, conferences, meetings internal or external to the agency., • Assist individuals and families in developing services plans addressing safety, stabilization, substance use, mental health, domestic violence, from a harm reduction approach., • Participate in weekly Supervision, with a planned agenda on family case issues to discuss· Implement Quality Assurance data to drive case practice and improve performance and achieve outcomes., • Monitor and obtain information on the child/ren school placement and educational performance., • Monitor and obtain information on the family’s medical needs, including compliance with periodic physicals and immunizations., • Assist in the obtaining, gathering and data entry for CACFP/DOH/DOE and any other administrative governing body., • Perform other duties/responsibilities as assigned within scope of position Requirements: Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey and receive accurate information in a professional and empathetic manner., • Ability to collaborate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and community partners., • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle caseloads efficiently while managing emergent situations., • Skilled in conducting interviews with families to gather and provide necessary case management information., • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to develop and implement achievable service plans with families., • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation., • Effective collaboration and facilitation skills to engage individuals, families, and service providers., • Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity in working with diverse families from various ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. Forestdale’s mission is “to ensure that children and families have the fundamental assets they need to thrive and live independently.” Job Summary: Family Treatment and Rehabilitation Case Planner is responsible for working with families who are experiencing circumstances that threaten the safety and well-being of their children. Families that referred to the Family Treatment and Rehabilitation Program are currently experiencing mental health and/or substance abuse issues which place the children at risk. These identified family member can be either the parents and/or the child. The role of the Family Support Case Planner is to work with families to support, help strengthen and promote healthy growth and development within the family. Major Responsibilities/Activities: • Visit families in their homes, communities or at the agency as indicated by the Phase of Treatment –Initial, Baseline or Stabilization. The visits ranges from a minimum of 3 times per week (Initial Phase of Treatment); or 1 time per week (Baseline Phase of Treatment); or two times a month (Stabilization Phase of Treatment)., • Provide individual, family and group counseling, as needed., • Advocate for clients in their effort to secure services, such as public assistance, health insurance and immigration issues., • Coordinate and maintain contact with workers at the Administration for Children’s Services, • Maintain contact with schools, mental health facilities/therapist and any other service providers., • Participate in Clinical Diagnostic Team Meetings, staff meetings, in-service trainings, and outside trainings for professional development, • Document all case activity using the systems of record - N.Y.S. Job Description Make the Road States (MRStates) is the national home for the second-generation Make the Road family of organizations in Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Nevada, this in addition to New York, that serves to uplift the voices of working-class, immigrants, women, LGBTQIA people, and people of color across the Make the Roads umbrella. From an operational spectrum it serves as the Finance and Human Resources Compliance Officers for the umbrella at large. Make the Road New Jersey (MRNJ) builds the power of immigrant and working-class communities to achieve dignity and respect through community organizing, the provision of high quality legal and support services, transformative education, and policy innovation. MRNJ is a project of Make the Road States. Founded in 2014, MRNJ operates centers and organizing hubs in the cities of Elizabeth, Passaic, Perth Amboy, and Newark, that reach thousands of immigrants and working-class people of color each year. Our member-led organizing committees -- which work on the issues named above-- implement strategies to combat shared problems and develop leadership and the capacity for civic participation. In the past four years, MRNJ has won more than 10 pro-immigrant and pro-worker policies, including the nation’s first guaranteed severance law, landmark anti-wage theft legislation, occupational and drivers’ license for undocumented immigrants and a $15 minimum wage. Current Opening: The Political Director shall be a member of the New Jersey Senior Leadership Team, and will be responsible for managing a department that includes 501(c4) electoral canvass capacity, as well as 501(c3) organizing around policy and legislative goals, and communications to press, elected officials, allies, members and coalition partners. The Political Director shall work directly with the Executive Director and Political Directors from allied labor, community and advocacy organizations to build power for Make the Road New Jersey, and New Jersey’s progressive advocacy community.
