Job Description Job Title: Sheet Metal Technician (Commercial HVAC Installer) Job Description This role focuses on commercial HVAC sheet metal installation for projects based in Palmdale, Santa Clarita, and the Greater San Fernando Valley area. You will install, assemble, and support a variety of duct systems and hot water piping components, ensuring high-quality workmanship and safe operation. The position follows a daytime schedule and offers the opportunity to transition from contract to a long-term role based on performance. Responsibilities • Install commercial HVAC sheet metal duct systems, including spiral, round, rigid, and flex ducting, according to project specifications., • Measure, cut, and assemble sheet metal ducts to precise dimensions using appropriate hand and power tools., • Install and secure hangers, supports, and insulation to ensure proper function and stability of HVAC systems., • Perform duct sealing and insulation to maintain system efficiency and prevent air leaks., • Use scissor lifts safely to install ductwork and related components at elevated heights, including up to 40-foot lifts., • Install round duct and associated fittings in commercial environments, ensuring correct alignment and support., • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC sheet metal systems and ductwork as needed to maintain proper operation., • Use drills and other hand tools to fasten and assemble components safely and efficiently., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety guidelines and wearing required protective gear., • Arrive on time, prepared with required tools and equipment, and consistently demonstrate reliability and a strong work ethic., • Travel to various jobsites, including locations between Palmdale and Los Angeles, as project needs require. Essential Skills • 4–5 years of HVAC sheet metal installation experience in commercial settings., • Proficiency installing spiral, round, rigid, and flex HVAC ducting., • Ability to measure, cut, and assemble sheet metal ducts to exact specifications., • Experience with commercial HVAC duct installation, including hangers, supports, and insulation., • Skill using hand and power tools, including drills, for sheet metal and ductwork., • Experience with duct sealing and insulation to ensure system performance., • Ability to perform troubleshooting and repair on HVAC sheet metal systems and ductwork., • Capability to work safely on scissor lifts, including up to 40-foot lifts, for elevated installations., • Ownership of necessary hand tools, including drills, to perform daily tasks., • Punctuality, reliability, and a strong work ethic, with readiness to work hard and complete tasks safely and efficiently. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working specifically with commercial HVAC systems and duct installations., • Comfort working at heights on scissor lifts and other elevated platforms., • Ability to coordinate duct and piping installations in active commercial jobsite environments., • Experience installing supports, hangers, and insulation to meet mechanical design requirements., • Familiarity with air bleeding procedures and valve placement for hot water systems., • Reliable transportation to travel between Palmdale and jobsites in the Greater San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles areas., • Readiness to work within a contract-to-hire arrangement over approximately six months., • Ability to follow safety protocols consistently and wear required protective equipment., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, accurate, and code-compliant work. Work Environment This role is based out of the Palmdale area, with projects starting in Palmdale and extending to jobsites between Palmdale and Los Angeles. The standard work schedule runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., providing predictable daytime hours. You will work primarily on commercial HVAC installations, often in active construction or retrofit environments that require attention to safety and coordination with other trades. The position involves regular use of hand and power tools, including drills, as well as frequent work on scissor lifts up to approximately 40 feet to install round duct and related components at height. You must provide and use your own hand tools and arrive prepared to work each day. The role requires consistent use of personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety vest, work boots, long pants, and a T-shirt, in accordance with jobsite safety standards. Reliable transportation is essential to reach various jobsites across the region, and the work environment emphasizes safety, professionalism, and steady, high-quality field installation work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Clarita, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
