Job DescriptionJob Title: Wastewater Treatment Operator - N1 LicenseJob Description The N1 Licensed Wastewater Treatment Operator is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of wastewater treatment systems to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. This role requires technical expertise in plant processes, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to safety and environmental standards. Responsibilities • Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant equipment, including pumps, valves, blowers, clarifiers, digesters, and chemical feed systems., • Monitor plant performance through gauges, meters, SCADA systems, and laboratory testing; record operational data and prepare reports., • Collect and analyze wastewater samples for chemical, physical, and biological characteristics; adjust processes to maintain compliance with NPDES permit requirements., • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems; troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed., • Respond to alarms, system failures, and emergency situations promptly and effectively., • Maintain accurate logs, inspection records, and documentation for regulatory compliance., • Ensure safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials generated during treatment processes., • Assist in training junior operators and promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement., • Perform daily operations and maintenance of treatment plant., • Complete minor routine maintenance of equipment., • Operate facilities with computer or PLC controls., • Monitor, regulate, and adjust chlorinators, chemical feed pumps, and other process equipment., • Maintain a log of operations and maintenance activities and related records., • Possibly operate a variety of equipment such as forklift, aerial or scissor lifts, generator, compressors, pumps etc., • Participate actively in creating a safety culture at the jobsite.Essential Skills, • N1 Wastewater Operator License., • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in wastewater operations preferred., • 1–3 years of experience in wastewater treatment operations or related field., • Knowledge of hydraulic, chemical, and biological principles of wastewater treatment., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and regulatory guidelines., • Strong mechanical skills for pump and equipment maintenance; basic electrical troubleshooting., • Proficiency in using SCADA systems and basic computer applications., • Valid driver’s license; ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and respond to emergencies.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Technical training in wastewater operations., • Experience in routine laboratory and field tests for control of plant operations., • Good interpersonal skills.
