Job Description Why are you interested? This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, experienced property damage consultant to join our Long Island office in Wantagh, New York. Candidates will find this position has a healthy balance of autonomy and support, while working alongside construction experts under an industry leading brand. Who is DBI? Founded in 2002, the DBI team specializes in the evaluation of damaged structures. DBI’s construction experts provide independent recommendations and analysis to clients in the insurance and legal industries. In a complex industry, the company’s mission is to bring clarity to every client served by DBI through hard evidence, expertise, and accuracy. What is the role? The Project Manager II is responsible for ensuring the timely and costly completion of building consulting projects by overseeing all phases. The Project Manager II will accurately evaluate damaged structures and compile a scope of repair, as well as cost projections. The position will be based out of our Long Island office, with a starting salary range of $90,000-$140,000 plus semi-annual bonus potential and benefits package. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Project Manager • Develop detailed budgets, estimates, and proposals across lump sum, unit rate, and cost-plus formats, • Manage project timelines, schedules, and resource allocation to meet delivery commitments, • Organize project teams and maintain effective relationships with staff, consultants, and clients, • Identify risk exposures and resolve complex technical issues as they arise, • Enforce department standards for deliverables, budget tracking, and project documentation, • Ensure the flow of project information is maintained and documented, • Perform all other duties as assigned DBI • Consistently demonstrate professionalism, integrity and the highest standards of ethical behavior, • Conducts daily work and interactions in a way that aligns with the organization’s values, • Maintain the confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive information, exercising sound judgment and discretion, • Commit to continuous improvement and professional development for self and team members REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred, • Minimum Five (5) years of experience within construction, restoration, and/or property insurance related fields, • Ability to travel and build comradery with a response team. Willingness to travel +/- 25% of the workweek, • Desire to work in a fast-paced, in-person environment., • Experience working with Xactimate, RS Means, Bluebeam Revu, Primavera and MS Projects preferred, • Possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Motivated, detail oriented, and ready to take on challenges, • Strong verbal and written communication skills, • Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, • Ability to observe issues and suggest innovative solutions, • Self-directed with the ability to be an effective team leader and maintain a professional demeanor, • Proven organizational skills with exemplary time management, • Technically astute and strong problem-solving skills, • Ability to work in inclement weather and various environmental conditions WORKING CONDITIONS: Our business requires work to be performed at the site of the property damage, including locations where disasters or catastrophes have previously occurred. This team member may be required to work in elevated areas such as roofs or scaffolding, requiring physical agility, and balance. During busy periods, this may require evening, overnight, and/or weekend travel and work. Our teams are provided with safety gear and PPE as they may be subject to, but not limited to: outdoor extreme heat, cold, and precipitation; indoor noise, vibrations, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. This team member may be required to work in close quarters, crawl spaces, small enclosed rooms, narrow aisles, passageways, or other enclosed areas, requiring physical agility and resistance to claustrophobia. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS: The team member may be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, or feel, especially in the course of investigating and assessing property damage; these requirements may include the need to lift weights of up to 50 pounds, including a ladder. The work requires close visual acuity, with or without correction, to prepare reports containing words, symbols, and numerical figures; the incumbent is required to view a computer terminal, use a keyboard, read printed documents, make detailed visual inspections, perceive color, perceive depth, and have a sufficient field of vision to carry out all inspection and related duties.
