The floor beds consist of patients requiring every 4-hour monitoring. Additionally, there are 7 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) beds embedded in the 21 neuro floor beds. These patients are seizure disorder patients admitted electively with their anti-convulsant medications on hold and hard wired to continuous EEG. This allows the physicians to identify the area of the brain where the seizures are occurring. Many of these patients become candidates for brain mapping with surgically placed grids to further pinpoint the area causing the seizures. This mapping allows the surgeon to determine if the patient would be a candidate for surgical removal of parts of the brain to stop seizure activity and still allow the patient to have functionality. Colorectal Surgery & Urology: The Colorectal Surgery and Urology Unit consists of 22 semi-private rooms. This Post-Surgical setting cares for patients that have undergone colorectal and urologic surgery. The nursing staff will work closely with the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses for ostomy and wound care needs. RNs will also care for post-operative patients with TPN, NG tubes, and central lines. Procedures performed on unit: Assist with chest tube insertion, central lines, wound vac changes, NG, Cortrak, catheter, indwelling catheters. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses, coordinates, plans, directs, implements and manages the needs of assigned patients throughout the episode of care with a focus on progress toward discharge, including during transitions within the acute care stay. The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the delivery and coordination of patient care provided by the caregiving team. The Emergency Department is divided into five major zones: Major trauma and critical care, Resuscitation and minor care, Pediatrics, Acute care, and Rapid Care. There are two distinct waiting areas, one for pediatric patients and their families, and the other for all other visitors. There are 7 negative flow rooms, one of which is also an isolation room. Clinical and clerical workstations, nutrition areas, and supply and pharmaceutical dispensing machines are centrally located in each zone. A dedicated radiology suite, including 2 CTs, a DECONTAMINATION suite with a separate entrance, as well as a satellite lab are also located within the Emergency Department. In 2017, it is anticipated that Albany Medical Center will open a Level II Pediatric Emergency Department with 15 exam/treatment areas, 2 trauma resuscitation rooms, and a pediatric observation unit. Each ambulatory patient is initially evaluated at the triage. Patients arriving via EMS are directed to the appropriate patient care room by the flow facilitator during peak hours. Job Description In this Supervisor role you will assist IPRO’s Senior Director and the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), Office of Aging and Long-Term Care, Long Term care, with oversight of surveillance and investigation activities related to nursing homes (long term care). These activities are mandated to evaluate facility performance and monitor the quality of care and services provided. Duties include but are not limited to ensuring the quantity and quality of IPRO staff work output with acceptable outcomes; working with IPRO’s designated staff to ensure correct invoicing are submitted for staff; coordinating and assisting in providing preceptor surveillance training to IPRO surveyors; participating as a member of an interdisciplinary survey team and producing written documentation and draft Statements of Deficiencies (SOD); attend meetings and other duties assigned. The position will be located at the NYS DOH lower Manhattan OR Central Islip office. Non-travel days are based at the designated office or telecommuting, if approved. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: • NYS Licensed, Registered Nurse, required., • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in performing utilization review, claims adjudication, medical review, fraud investigation, surveillance, or monitoring activities, OR, three (3) years of clinical or administrative experience, OR A bachelor’s degree in nursing and two (2) years of clinical or administrative experience and two (2) years of supervisory experience., • Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT), required. The salary range for this position is $109,750.00- $115,996.50. Actual salary range and /or hourly rate depends on a variety of factors including experience, education, credentials, location, and budget.
