Position Overview Northside Charter High School is seeking a highly organized, enthusiastic, and dedicated Part Time Athletic Coordinator to lead the planning, implementation, and management of our high school athletic programs and league partnerships. This role is vital in ensuring a positive and enriching experience for our student-athletes, coaches, and the entire school community, with a strong emphasis on student academic success. The Athletic Coordinator will also play a key role in leveraging athletics as a tool for student engagement and recruitment. The Athletic Coordinator will report to the Director of Student Experience and Community Engagement. Key Responsibilities * Academic Oversight & Support: * Implement and oversee athletic study halls to provide dedicated academic support for student-athletes. * Conduct regular grade checks for all student-athletes to monitor academic progress and identify those in need of intervention. * Uphold and enforce all school academic policies related to student-athlete eligibility and participation. * Collaborate with teachers and guidance counselors to address academic concerns and provide necessary support. * Educate student-athletes and caregivers on academic requirements for athletic participation. * Program Leadership & Logistics: * Manage the scheduling of practices, games, and events for all athletic teams. * Coordinate transportation for athletic events, including buses and vans. * Oversee athletic facilities usage, including scheduling gym time, fields, and other spaces. * Ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available for practices and games. * Manage the inventory of athletic equipment and uniforms, recommending purchases when needed. * Coach & Student-Athlete Support: * Serve as a primary point of contact for coaches, offering administrative support and guidance. * Direct the dissemination of information to student-athletes and caregivers about schedules, policies, and events. * Foster a positive and sportsmanlike environment for all athletic activities. * Ensure coaches are certified in all sports management areas. * Game Day Operations: * Manage game day setup and breakdown, including scoreboard operation, facility preparation, and crowd control. * Coordinate game officials and ensure their payment. * Be present at a significant number of home athletic events to provide on-site leadership and support. * Collaborate with the safety team to ensure there is ample security at internal and external games. * Ensure all students are accompanied by a school staff member to and from games, as per NCHS ratio (10 students :1 chaperone). * Communication & Administration: * Maintain accurate records of health and physical forms, athletic schedules, rosters, emergency contacts, and waiver forms. * Lead communication efforts with caregivers regarding athletic updates, cancellations, and events. * Support the school's communication efforts by providing content for newsletters, social media, and the school website about athletic achievements. * Process and submit invoices to the Director of Student Experience and Community Engagement for approval and payment. * Track expenses related to the athletic department in collaboration with the Director of Student Experience and Community Engagement. * Compliance & Safety: * Ensure compliance with all PSAL (Public Schools Athletic League) or relevant athletic league regulations and school policies. * Implement and uphold safety protocols and emergency procedures during athletic events. Student Recruitment through Athletics The Part Time Athletic Coordinator will actively support the school's efforts to recruit prospective students through our athletic programs. This includes: * Serving as a welcoming and informative contact for prospective student-athletes and their families interested in our athletic offerings. * Participate and present at middle schools, open houses, recruitment fairs, and community events to showcase our athletic programs. * Developing and maintaining relationships with local middle school athletic programs and community sports organizations. * Collaborating with the admissions team to highlight athletic opportunities and successes in recruitment materials. Qualifications * A Bachelor's degree is preferred, ideally in Sports Management, Education, or a related field. * Previous experience in athletic administration, coaching, or sports management, preferably at the high school level, demonstrating a capacity for leadership. * Demonstrated commitment to the academic success of student-athletes. * Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently. * Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. * Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Calendar) and familiarity with athletic scheduling software is a plus. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. * Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by athletic schedules. * Knowledge of PSAL regulations and the New York City athletic landscape is highly desirable. * A passion for youth development through athletics and a commitment to fostering a positive school culture. * Background Check * Please inform NCHS if you are a part of any key organizations and programs, such as NFHS, ICF, or BCC. * CPR Certification * First Aide Certification * Concussion Management * Child Abuse and Maltreatment * DASA Certification
