Job DescriptionJob Title: Inventory and Order Desk Associate Job Description This role supports the order desk by managing inventory and providing in-person customer service in a showroom and warehouse environment. You will greet walk-in customers, guide them through the stone slab showroom, and ensure accurate tracking of all incoming and outgoing inventory using a warehouse management system. The position combines customer-facing responsibilities with detailed data entry and inventory control, without requiring heavy lifting. Responsibilities • Welcome and greet walk-in customers in the showroom and provide a positive, professional first impression., • Explain the layout of the stone slab showroom and safely guide customers through the displays., • Physically walk customers around the showroom and show them specific stone slabs based on their needs., • Support the order desk by handling customer inquiries, taking orders, and providing accurate product and order information., • Track all incoming and outgoing inventory using the warehouse management system (WMS) called Profit., • Receive load sheets for incoming and outbound trucks and enter all relevant information into the computer system., • Read and interpret Excel sheets to verify inventory details, orders, and shipment information., • Create, update, and move inventory records within the Profit system to ensure accurate stock levels and locations., • Keep detailed track of where each product is stored and what inventory is leaving the facility., • Perform data entry for inventory, shipping, and order information with a high level of accuracy., • Answer phones promptly and professionally, assisting customers and internal teams with order desk and inventory-related questions., • Coordinate with warehouse and showroom staff to ensure orders are prepared and staged correctly., • Maintain an organized work area and help support efficient warehouse and showroom operations., • Follow all company policies and procedures related to safety, inventory control, and customer service.Essential Skills, • At least 1 year of experience in inventory, order desk, or will call operations., • At least 1 year of computer experience, including regular use of business software., • Ability to perform accurate data entry for inventory, orders, and shipping information., • Experience working with inventory management or warehouse management systems., • Ability to read and work with Excel sheets for tracking and verifying information., • Strong customer service skills, including the ability to greet and assist walk-in customers in person., • Willingness and ability to answer phones and handle customer inquiries professionally., • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to track what inventory arrives, where it goes, and when it leaves., • Comfort working in a warehouse and showroom environment without heavy lifting responsibilities., • Clear verbal communication skills for interacting with customers, drivers, and internal staff.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous experience in an order desk, shipping clerk, or inventory management role., • Familiarity with warehouse management systems, particularly Profit, or similar platforms., • Experience in customer-facing roles such as will call, front counter, or customer service., • Comfort working with stone, tile, or building materials in a commercial or residential context., • Ability to balance customer service duties with detailed administrative and data entry tasks., • Interest in learning and growing within a national distribution organization.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a warehouse and showroom environment with a focus on natural and manufactured stone, tile, and other solid surfaces used in both commercial and residential applications. Typical hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a planned shift adjustment to 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and a rotating Saturday schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. approximately every third Saturday. The workplace is closed on Sundays and holidays. The environment includes a mix of office-based order desk work, warehouse operations, and showroom customer interactions, with no heavy lifting required. The company provides water, ice, Gatorade, coffee, and similar refreshments on-site. The dress code requires steel-toed shoes, work jeans, and a plain T-shirt, suitable for a warehouse and showroom setting where safety and practicality are important. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tempe, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
