Job Description Actalent is Hiring for a Medical Assistant!!!!! Job Description The Medical Assistant supports daily clinical operations in a busy urgent care setting by providing direct patient care, preparing patients and examination rooms for visits and procedures, accurately documenting clinical information in the electronic medical record, and assisting physicians and nurse practitioners with a wide range of clinical and administrative tasks. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient patient flow, clear communication, and a clean, safe, and organized care environment. Responsibilities • Greet patients in a professional and welcoming manner and help ensure a smooth check-in process., • Measure and document vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and other required measurements., • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by confirming information, explaining processes, and ensuring patient comfort., • Prepare examination rooms for patient visits and procedures, ensuring rooms are clean, organized, and fully stocked., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment in accordance with established standards and protocols., • Provide essential patient care assistance to support physicians’ and nurse practitioners’ daily activities., • Assist physicians with procedures by documenting medical history, case notes, and other relevant clinical information., • Relay instructions from the physician or nurse practitioner to the patient or authorized person clearly and accurately., • Collect patient data in person and by phone, including patient concerns and symptoms, and document this information in the electronic medical record., • Record messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for physician or nurse practitioner review., • Take complete and accurate messages, route messages to the appropriate area or individual, and follow through on required actions., • Enter orders and referrals as directed, and set up cases in the electronic medical record system., • Perform basic registration tasks and update patient demographics and other relevant information in the system., • Accurately document medical information in patient records, ensuring completeness and compliance with documentation standards., • Track and route laboratory and diagnostic test results to physicians and nurse practitioners for timely review., • Communicate test results to patients when authorized and deemed appropriate by the physician or nurse practitioner., • Facilitate patient care activities, including scheduling ancillary tests and follow-up appointments as directed., • Reinforce patient education by reviewing instructions and care plans provided by the physician or nurse practitioner., • Perform basic triage functions as appropriate and directed by the physician or nurse practitioner, in line with site operations., • Maintain adequate inventory of medical, office, and pharmaceutical supplies, and restock rooms and work areas as needed., • Use electronic health record and electronic medical record systems proficiently to support daily documentation, communication, order entry, and case setup., • Process orders accurately and in a timely manner, following established procedures and protocols., • Collaborate with clinical and administrative team members to support efficient patient flow in a high-volume urgent care environment., • Demonstrate flexibility to support different specialties and shifts as needed, including opportunities for overtime. Essential Skills • At least 1 year of experience working as a Medical Assistant., • Proficiency in taking and documenting vital signs accurately., • Hands-on experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting., • Ability to prepare patients and examination rooms for exams and procedures., • Experience assisting physicians or nurse practitioners with clinical procedures and patient care., • Strong skills in documenting medical history, case notes, and patient concerns., • Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) and electronic health record (EHR) systems., • Ability to accurately enter orders, referrals, and demographic information in EMR/EHR systems., • Strong written and verbal communication skills for relaying instructions and communicating with patients and clinical staff., • Ability to collect and relay test results and other clinical information accurately and confidentially., • Organizational skills to maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked clinical environment., • Basic triage skills as directed by clinicians and in line with site operations., • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume urgent care environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential or equivalent training in medical assisting., • Experience working in urgent care or high-volume outpatient clinical settings., • Phlebotomy experience and comfort performing blood draws as needed., • Familiarity with scheduling ancillary tests and coordinating follow-up care., • Comfort communicating test results and reinforcing patient education under clinician direction., • Ability to adapt to different specialties and clinical workflows, with openness to cross-training., • Interest in professional growth and development within the organization., • Willingness to work occasional extended hours or overtime when needed. Work Environment This role is based in a busy urgent care clinic that typically serves 50–100 patients per day. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility to work until 6:00 p.m. when needed. You will work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other clinical and administrative team members in a fast-paced environment that relies heavily on electronic medical record and electronic health record systems for documentation, communication, and order entry. The setting requires frequent patient interaction, consistent use of computers and clinical equipment, and attention to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middletown, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
