Why this role matters • Direct impact: Your work ensures patients receive safe, high-quality care the moment equipment goes live., • Scale and stability: STERIS is a ~$5B global healthcare leader with ~17,000 associates (4,000+ in the field), growing organically and through acquisition., • Career mobility: Advance across U.S. regions or internationally with robust training and development.Where you’ll go, • Primary territory: NYC, Manhattan, most of Long Island, and Northern New Jersey (as needed)., • Company vehicle for frequent day trips, plus periodic Monday–Friday travel with likely overnights., • Some weekend work (not more than two weekends per month); hours flex to customer schedules; overtime is common but not guaranteed., • Exposure to diverse projects across multiple hospital systems and, at times, other states.What you’ll tackle, • Coordinate with the Installation Project Manager to lock in dates aligned to deliveries and construction timelines., • Confirm site readiness—rough-ins, utilities, and transport paths (doorways, elevators, corridors) match spec., • Uncrate, assemble, position, level, connect utilities, and commission STERIS sterilizers, lights/booms, and related systems., • Execute functional testing and capture all service documentation electronically., • Leave it spotless: remove crates/packaging, wipe equipment, and address final customer questions.Must-haves, • HS diploma/GED and 5+ years recent mechanical experience in construction or HVAC install/repair; OR Associate’s in Electronics/Mechanical (or similar) plus 1+ year related mechanical experience., • Ability to travel extensively and work flexible hours based on customer needs., • Strong troubleshooting, Windows proficiency, and clear customer communication., • Valid driver’s license; clean driving record.Nice-to-haves, • Plumbing and electrical experience (strongly preferred)., • Commercial plumbing and pipefitting background., • Electrical schematic and blueprint reading., • Machine building/assembly experience., • OSHA 10-Hour certification.Compensation & benefits, • Competitive base salary plus a 15% differential tied to total hours worked each pay period., • Overtime opportunities; annual merit review and incentive plans., • Company vehicle, fuel, and maintenance covered., • Company credit card, iPhone, and laptop; all business travel expenses paid., • Uniforms and all necessary tools supplied., • Medical, vision, prescription, dental, and life insurance., • 401(k) with company match; paid vacation and holidays., • Hands-on training and development; tuition assistance., • Parental leave/adoption assistance; advancement opportunities.Success profile, • Customer-first mindset and professional communication., • Hands-on mechanical aptitude with a safety focus.
