Job DescriptionDescription: Mental Health Association of Nassau County (MHANC) is a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to improving mental health in our community through advocacy, education, program development, and the delivery of direct services. Our organization is looking for a motivated individual with a calling to help adults with mental illness by becoming a Receptionist. Responsible for providing clerical support to the Gathering Place PROS Program. • Answer telephones, greet visitors, accept and sign for deliveries as required., • Prepare correspondence as required., • Maintain agency files as required., • Perform data entry responsibilities in databases as required., • Perform copy / fax responsibilities as required., • Assist with data collection for billing as required., • File confidential material in client charts as required., • Assist with PROS scheduling functions as required., • Implement all facts of the functional program including program philosophy, goals, and objectives as well as adhere to agency policies and procedures., • Participates in implementation of agency’s Quality Improvement Program., • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with all staff to assure services and activities are adequately maintained to meet the needs of the members., • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility., • Identify and assist in correcting problem areas, and/or the improvement of services., • Follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies., • Follow the procedures for reporting unsafe conditions and hazardous conditions or equipment., • Assists with coordinating transportation (MAS) and MetroCard distribution for PROS participants., • Must be able to handle simultaneous challenging situations in an often-high stress environment., • Must have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with members, personnel and support agencies., • Able to think objectively in various situations., • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility., • Accepts and follows through on other duties as assigned., • Participate in continuing educational programs designed to assure knowledge of changes in profession and/or the mental health field.Requirements: Education & Experience • High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Position Summary: The Surgical Coordinator plays a critical role in managing the scheduling, coordination, and communication of all surgical procedures. This position involves working closely with surgeons, patients, insurance companies, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth and efficient surgical operations, while maintaining optimal patient care. The Surgical Coordinator must possess strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure timely and effective surgical procedures. Job Duties & Essential Functions: • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, answering questions about surgical preparation., • Act as a liaison between surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure all surgical requirements are met., • Communicate with insurance providers to verify coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for surgeries., • Schedule patient surgeries and pre/post-operative appointments, including those with ASC, and surgeons., • Confirm surgery dates and provide pre-operative and post-operative instructions to patients., • Ensure all necessary pre-operative information (e.g., consent forms, medical history, lab results) is collected, reviewed, and documented., • Arrange transportation for patients, if necessary, for procedures or related appointments., • Prepare surgical folders and collect required paperwork after procedures, ensuring completeness and accuracy., • Handle pre-operative testing and review patient medication lists to align with surgery requirements., • Confirm all pertinent details for the procedure, including bookings, insurance, medical clearance, authorizations, and signed consent forms., • Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations., • Regularly update the surgical schedule to reflect changes or adjustments., • Ensure the availability and proper functioning of all required surgical equipment and supplies., • Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate charge recording and processing., • Address patient concerns or questions after and after surgery., • Perform any additional tasks assigned or directed by the supervisor. Required Qualifications: • High School diploma or equivalent, • One (1) year of experience as a medical receptionist with knowledge of insurance verification and authorizations., • Strong understanding of medical terminology and surgical procedures., • Proficiency with office software and electronic health record (EHR) systems., • Associate’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field., • Two years relevant surgical coordinator, ophthalmic/optometric, sales experience., • Previous experience in a healthcare or surgical setting.
