As a Hospice Transport Driver, you are much more than a driver, you are often one of the first friendly faces our patients and families see. Position Summary The Hospice Transport Driver provides safe, courteous, and dependable transportation for hospice patients throughout Las Cruces and within the very closely surrounding communities. This position works closely with the interdisciplinary hospice team to ensure patients arrive safely for medical appointments, hospice-related services, or other approved destinations while maintaining patient comfort, confidentiality, and respect. Essential Responsibilities • Safely transport hospice patients to and from homes, assisted living facilities, nursing facilities, hospitals, and other approved destinations., • Assist patients entering and exiting vehicles using appropriate safety techniques and mobility equipment, including wheelchairs and walkers when applicable., • Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and dignity throughout every transport., • Communicate professionally with patients, families, caregivers, and members of the hospice interdisciplinary team., • Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness, safety, and readiness., • Report vehicle maintenance concerns promptly., • Maintain accurate transportation logs, mileage records, and required documentation., • Adhere to all HIPAA privacy and confidentiality requirements., • Observe and promptly report changes in a patient's condition or safety concerns to the appropriate clinical team member., • Follow all Mesilla Valley Hospice policies and procedures, infection prevention protocols, and safety guidelines., • Represent Mesilla Valley Hospice with professionalism and compassion in the community. Qualifications Required • High school diploma or GED., • Valid New Mexico driver's license., • Valid CNA certification, • Clean driving record with the ability to meet Mesilla Valley Hospice insurance requirements., • Current automobile insurance if using a personal vehicle for hospice business., • Ability to safely assist patients with limited mobility., • Ability to lift, push, or assist with mobility equipment in accordance with established safety practices., • Strong communication and customer service skills., • Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality., • Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain within the required timeframe. Preferred • Experience in hospice, home health, healthcare transportation, senior care, or patient services., • Knowledge of Southern New Mexico roadways and surrounding communities., • Experience working with elderly or medically fragile individuals. Working Environment This position requires frequent travel throughout Las Cruces, and surrounding communities. Drivers must be comfortable working in private homes, hospitals, nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and other healthcare settings. The position requires regular lifting, bending, standing, walking, and assisting patients with mobility while using proper body mechanics and safety procedures.
