Job Description OVERVIEW A Part-Time Japanese Language Instructor teaches Japanese courses for adults. Seeking instructors with extensive previous teaching experience at the university level or equivalent, for in-person and/or online courses. Job Description:\n\nThe New York Climate Exchange (“The Exchange”) seeks a visionary leader to serve as Chief Advancement Officer (CAO). This is a unique opportunity to build and lead a fundraising organization from the ground up in collaboration with diverse partner organizations focused on affecting real change battling the biggest crisis of our time — climate change. The CAO will serve as a senior leader for The Exchange, setting strategic direction for fundraising and executing a multi-year, comprehensive development strategy to support the organization’s critically important mission as well as to significantly increase its visibility in New York City and ultimately on the global stage. This position will require a seasoned, entrepreneurial development professional who seeks to play a key role in building a sophisticated and sustainable philanthropic model for an emerging organization. The CAO will be an experienced leader, comfortable with ambiguity, familiar with solving complicated, nuanced problems and working in complex organizations, and skilled at leading through influence. Engage current donors and partner institutions in this process as appropriate. Lead and oversee the involvement of the CEO, members of the Senior Leadership Team, the Board of Directors, and other senior Exchange stakeholders in Development activities. Manage connections between current and prospective donors and these leaders, providing staffing, strategic guidance and support. Strategically engage these parties in the work with prospective donors when appropriate, exercising sound judgment and efficiently communicating prospect strategies. Develop and implement a strategic plan for new donor engagement (through formal and informal advisory opportunities) and event programming that deepens connections and cultivates volunteer leadership. Recruit and support a high-level development volunteer body that can assist in the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of principal and transformational gifts for The Exchange. Plan and coordinate strategic, high-quality development events geared toward high-level donors, ensure development of appropriate program content, and negotiate staff responsibilities surrounding each event. Ensure that events have a clear and defined advancement purpose, are efficiently managed to the bottom line, and that follow-up initiatives are in place. In collaboration with communications and marketing colleagues, oversee the creation of compelling messaging and case statements in support of fundraising strategies. Management and Oversight Revisit, revise as necessary, set, and endorse fundraising financial goals and targets for FY27-FY28 related to capital and operating financial needs. Evaluate and refine the initial Advancement staffing plan, including the identification and definition of additional positions necessary to support the goals and objectives of a start-up fundraising program. Recruit, manage, train, mentor and evaluate a dynamic, innovative, high-performing, diverse and inclusive team of development professionals. In collaboration with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team prepare and oversee the Advancement team budget, using sound fiscal management and with attention to the efficient allocation of resources. Continually enhance the menu of funding and recognition opportunities, with a primary focus on the principal and transformational gift levels. Champion efficient processes and data-informed decision making to guide the work of the Advancement team. Assess, refine, and oversee all polices and infrastructure for development procedures, donor database, gift acceptance, gift acknowledgement, research, and other systems-related aspects of the fundraising program. Other Considerations Travel in support of The Exchange’s philanthropic priorities, including events and personal cultivation and solicitation visits with the CEO, Exchange leaders, and coalition partners. The CAO will give particular attention to effectively leveraging the existing network and diversity of relationships already established through initial funders’ uniquely high visibility. Assist in translating exciting research and program activity into philanthropic objectives. Design and implement opportunities for authentic principal and transformational donor engagement and build partnerships with coalition institutions, ensuring strategic participation and coordination to increase the likelihood of a successful effort. Position-related Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of experience in progressively responsible development leadership positions, which includes work in all functional areas and participation in a major capital campaign (planning, implementation, management, and successful conclusion). Demonstrated track record of successful frontline fundraising for an institution of higher education, nonprofit organization, or other environment of similar complexity with multiple stakeholders; previous work experience in higher education or on environmental issues is preferred. Experience with the regional, national, and international climate funding community with a working knowledge of language and content is strongly preferred. Relationships within the New York City climate community will also be greatly valued. Hands-on principal gift ($1M-$9.99 million) and transformational gift ($10+ million) experience, including cultivation through solicitation and stewardship, preferably on a national and international scale, as well as experience working with planned giving, large and sophisticated corporate and foundation partners, and annual fund strategies for developing the next generation of leadership donors; success in securing gifts from both defined and undefined constituencies. THE OPPORTUNITY Launched in early 2020, Manhattan Justice Opportunities (Manhattan Justice) seeks to rethink justice in Manhattan and to build a justice system that is more responsive to individuals’ and communities’ needs. Manhattan Justice is a centralized, court-based screening and referral hub that provides judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys at New York County Criminal Court and Supreme Court with a wide array of social service-based sentencing options in misdemeanor and felony cases. Manhattan Justice is seeking a Case Manager to work with defendants participating in the Manhattan Felony Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) Court. The ATI Court, which is led by Administrative Judge Ellen Biben, seeks to forge a new response to individuals charged with felonies by linking them to community-based social services. The Court is the first of its kind, providing an innovative model for other jurisdictions seeking to develop and implement meaningful post-conviction sentencing options for individuals facing felony charges. Reporting to Senior Social Worker, the Case Manager will be part of a team that provides case management services to the ATI Court. The Case Manager will be responsible for providing referrals to community-based services, offering comprehensive clinical case management, and monitoring participant compliance. An essential and dynamic feature of the Case Manager’s role will be close collaboration with key stakeholders. They will work regularly with the judge and court staff from the New York County Supreme Court who oversee the Felony ATI Court, as well as with other stakeholders, including the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and New York City defense organizations. Court-based clinical work is an exciting, unique and demanding area of practice, and the Case Manager's role involves navigating and constructively engaging with differing and, at times, competing stakeholder perspectives. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provide comprehensive, clinically-informed case management services to a caseload of court-mandated ATI participants to help address issues such as substance use, mental health issues, trauma, domestic violence, housing and vocational needs, and other challenges in a participant’s life (e.g. new arrests, family court cases and other civil legal issues); Make appropriate community-based referrals for a variety of social service needs; Manage and monitor compliance with service mandates, including care coordination with providers; Provide written updates for court stakeholders for all court-involved participants; Participate in regular interdisciplinary case conferences with court stakeholders; Coordinate with court stakeholders on any non-compliance issues and assist clients in getting back into compliance, including re-engaging clients, arranging return on warrants, and implementing graduated responses to encourage future compliance; Attend court on calendar days, as needed, to help clients navigate court and collaborate with court staff and stakeholders; Collaborate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the resource coordinator, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and other court and programmatic staff; Assist with scheduling and rescheduling participants for intakes, assessments, and programming with community-based partners; Request and review records, and otherwise assist with clinical assessments; Assist with data entry and ensure the accuracy of information in the electronic case management system, including entering case notes and assessment, case management, programming and case outcome data; Assist with toxicology testing and reporting, as needed; Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation, as needed; Provide voluntary referrals to community-based services, as needed; Assist the Felony ATI leadership with the development and implementation of new initiatives; including best clinical practices, and appropriate evidence-based interventions; Provide clinical services as described above to program participants on a voluntary basis post-mandate; Participate in clinical group supervision, staff meetings, and trainings, as scheduled; Attend evening community-based meetings and events, as needed; and; Assist with other programmatic and administrative tasks to support Manhattan Justice’s activities with the Felony ATI Court, as needed. Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 3-4 years of experience working in a social service setting; Experience working in a court or criminal justice setting strongly preferred; Experience working with drug/alcohol treatment, mental health, co-occurring disorders, and trauma-informed approaches strongly preferred; Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred; Strong organizational and time management skills; Commitment to, and experience using, holistic and strengths-based approaches, meeting participants where they are, as well as the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds in a culturally responsive manner; Strong writing and verbal communication skills; and; Knowledge of community-based resources throughout New York City. Position Type: Full-time. Monday - Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This position is a one-year contract, subject to grant funding through June 30, 2027. Position Location: Manhattan, NY. Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $52,000 - $63,500 and is commensurate with experience.
