We are a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides Article 16 and 28 clinic services at 8 locations across Suffolk County, New York. About the Role: As a Dentist at Long Island Select Healthcare Inc., you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive dental care to our diverse patient population. Your primary responsibility will be to diagnose and treat various dental conditions, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care. You will also be responsible for performing a range of dental procedures, including restorative, cosmetic, and surgical treatments, tailored to meet the individual needs of each patient. Additionally, you will educate patients on oral health practices and preventive care to promote long-term dental wellness. Ultimately, your expertise will contribute to enhancing the overall health and confidence of our patients through improved dental aesthetics and functionality. Minimum Qualifications: • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school., • Experience in pediatric dentistry or cosmetic dentistry., • Examines individuals requesting care, diagnoses their dental/oral conditions, prescribes and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines., • Records patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient’s dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided. In addition, the Dentist shall complete referrals, data collections instruments and other records or paper works as shall be required from time to time by the clinic., • Educates individuals in the nature of oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention., • Assists in the provision of continuing education, on-the-job training, and the orientation of health center staff as requested., • Designs, develops, and implements appropriate Dental Department policies, protocols and procedures as directed by the administrative team which are in compliance with the most current accepted professional standards., • Participates in short- and long-term program planning for the Dental Department and the agency, including development of goals and objectives. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word), as well as Practice Management and Electronic Medical Record software. Your primary responsibility will be to perform thorough dental cleanings, ensuring that patients maintain optimal oral hygiene. You will also educate patients on proper dental care techniques and the importance of regular dental visits. Additionally, you will assist in the application of preventive treatments, such as fluoride and sealants, to help protect patients' teeth. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to the overall health and well-being of our patients, fostering a positive dental experience. Minimum Qualifications: • Valid dental hygiene license in the state of New York., • Experience working with pediatric patients. 1. Cleaning and polishing of teeth, 2. Instructing patients, oral hygiene habits, 3. Works chair side with dentist as needed during examination and treatments, 4. Performs X-rays, 5. Sets-up and cleans-up exam room for treatments as directed by dentist, 6. Disinfect and sterilize reusable medical instruments, 7. Makes molds for crowns and dental prosthetics, 8. Removes sutures, 9. Polishes fillings and other metal restorations, 10. Takes and records medical history and medication lists, 11. Documents treatment and patient secondary diagnosis, 12. Schedules dental appointments in practice management system, 13. Reviews service referrals, as needed, 14. Periodically reviews medical charts, 15. Means and ability to travel between clinics. Skills: Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
