About the role Angi is looking for a Head of Global Payroll to lead and scale our payroll operations across the U.S. and internationally. This is a highly visible leadership role within the Accounting organization responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll for a large, complex workforce operating across multiple compensation structures and jurisdictions. You'll own payroll operations for approximately 1,600 U.S. & Canadian employees, including a significant population of hourly employees earning commissions, overtime, and other variable compensation. You'll also oversee payroll operations across France, the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands through external providers. Beyond operational excellence, this role plays a key role in supporting the monthly close process and maintaining strong payroll controls in a public company environment. You'll partner closely with Accounting, Finance, HR Benefits, and HRIS while leading a payroll team responsible for delivering accurate and timely payroll at scale. We're looking for someone who combines deep payroll expertise with operational leadership. Someone who can navigate complex payroll structures, lead a team, and serve as Angi's go-to expert for all payroll-related matters. While this is a remote position, we are a global company and are looking for applicants located in eastern or central time zones to align with our team's working hours. What you'll do • Lead end-to-end payroll processing for 1,600 U.S. & Canadian employees, including hourly employees with commission-based and overtime compensation structures, • Ensure payroll is processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with federal, state, and international payroll regulations, • Serve as Angi's internal payroll subject matter expert, resolving complex payroll questions and ensuring compliance across jurisdictions, • Manage and develop a team of four payroll professionals, • Coordinate with payroll providers across France, UK, Germany, and the Netherlands, • Support month-end close, including payroll accrual calculations, balance sheet reconciliations, and payroll flux analysis, • Partner closely with Accounting, Finance, HR Benefits, and HRIS on payroll operations, reporting, system integrations & employee lifecycle (e.g. onboarding, promotions, terminations), • 12+ years of payroll experience, including leadership experience within a public company or similarly complex environment, • Experience managing payroll for large employee populations with variable compensation structures, • Experience managing the payroll implications of equity awards across federal, state and foreign jurisdictions, including taxation, withholding, and reporting obligations, • Extensive experience with UKG is required, • Strong knowledge of multi-state U.S. payroll regulations, • Working knowledge of Canadian & European payroll requirements, • Experience leading and developing payroll teams, • Experience supporting month-end close and partnering with accounting teams., • Strong internal controls mindset and familiarity with SOX environments., • Highly detail-oriented, responsive, and deadline-driven We know that the best ideas come from teams where diverse points of view uncover new solutions to hard problems. About the role Angi is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented, and forward-thinking International Payroll Lead to lead payroll operations across five countries - Netherlands, Germany, Austria, United Kingdom and France. This critical role combines both strategic oversight and hands-on execution of end-to-end payroll functions to ensure accuracy, consistency, standardization, and compliance with SOX controls. As a key member of our Accounting and People Operations teams, you'll report to the Senior Manager, Global Payroll based in the United States and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across our international organization. While this is a remote position, we are a global company and are looking for applicants located in eastern or central time zones to align with our team's working hours. What you'll do • Own and manage end-to-end payroll operations for Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, France and Austria, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, • Ensure compliance with all relevant local labor laws, tax regulations, and internal governance standards, • Partner with external payroll providers and internal stakeholders to streamline operations and resolve issues, • Serve as the go-to contact for payroll questions from employees, vendors, and internal teams, ensuring clear and accurate communication, • Maintain and improve payroll-related systems, processes, and controls, • Prepare payroll reports and reconciliations for Accounting, Finance and HR teams, • Assist with payroll journal entry preparation during month-end close, • Support audits and implement recommendations for continuous improvement, • Collaborate with HR to ensure data accuracy and alignment with employee lifecycle events (e.g. onboarding, promotions, terminations), • 4+ years proven experience managing multi-country payroll operations across European jurisdictions, experience in NL, UK, DE, or FR is a plus, • Experience managing the payroll implications of equity awards across multiple jurisdictions, including taxation, withholding, and reporting obligations, • Strong knowledge of European labor law and statutory requirements is required, • Strong knowledge of United States and Canadian labor law and payroll practices is preferred, • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills, • Demonstrated experience managing relationships with external payroll providers across multiple countries, • Outstanding internal & external-facing customer service skills with a sense of urgency, • Proficient in international HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., Personio, UKG/Immedis, ADP, SAP, or similar), • Must be self-driven and able to work autonomously, • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup functions, • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and international environment, • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion We know that the best ideas come from teams where diverse points of view uncover new solutions to hard problems.
