Job Description Job Title: Head Athletic Trainer Reports To: Director of Athletics Status: Full-Time, Exempt, 12-Month Position Summary/objective Mount Saint Mary College (MSMC), an NCAA Division III institution located in Newburgh, NY and member of the Skyline Conference, is looking for a motivated, energetic and passionate individual to be the next Director of Sports Medicine / Head Athletic Trainer. Reporting directly to the Director of Athletics, the Director of Sports Medicine / Head Athletic Trainer will be responsible for the overall management of athletic training room operations with oversight of sports medicine coverage for 20 NCAA Division III varsity sports. Essential functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. • Daily oversight of the MSMC Athletic Training and Sports Medicine department., • Lead and coordinate the care, prevention, rehabilitation and treatment of athletic injuries for student-athletes., • Schedule and provide daily coverage for all practices and competitions, including some travel responsibilities as determined by the Director of Athletics., • Serve as the point of contact with the Mount Saint Mary College team physician and arrange for injury and illness treatment., • Collect and maintain complete, accurate and detailed medical records through SportsWare and work with secondary insurance company as required., • Supervise the athletic department’s health and safety programs including, but not limited to, NCAA drug testing and AED, First Aid and CPR training., • Provides leadership, supervises, manages and coordinates the schedules of assistant athletic trainer(s), student athletic trainer(s) and interns., • Maintain NATA certification (paid for annually by MSMC) and New York State licensure through CEUs., • Oversee the selection, purchase and maintenance of all athletic training equipment and medical supplies while working within the parameters of the department budget., • Update annually and maintain Student-Athlete Handbook and the Sports Medicine Emergency Action Plan., • Represent Mount Saint Mary College Athletics at all Skyline Conference athletic training meetings., • Daily oversight of the MSMC Athletic Training and Sports Medicine department., • Office Setting: Cubicles, open desks, or private offices with access to necessary tools like computers, phones, and office supplies., • Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or workstation., • Typing/Computer Use: Frequent use of a computer keyboard and mouse., • Vision Requirements: Ability to read and view screens for extended periods., • Speaking/Hearing: Regular communication with coworkers and clients in person, over the phone, or via video calls., • Lifting/Carrying: Occasionally lifting or moving items up to 10-15 pounds, such as office supplies, laptops, or documents., • Reaching/Bending: Periodic reaching for or bending to access files, supplies, or equipment. This position requires occasional overnight travel, including local trips to other colleges, as well as travel for championship competitions, the NATA Convention, and conference meetings. Summary/Primary Role: This role will have expertise in small engines, gasoline engines, and hydraulic systems to join our team. This role requires a Class A CDL, managerial experience, and the flexibility to work both in the field and at our home shop in Rock Tavern, NY. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, leadership skills, and a willingness to travel as needed. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: (Management may amend or assign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time) • Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel and gasoline engines, including small engines and hydraulic systems., • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on a variety of equipment, ensuring optimal performance., • Operate and maintain service trucks and equipment necessary for field repairs., • Supervise and manage a team of mechanics or field technicians when required., • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and maintain accurate service records., • Travel to job sites for on-site repairs and field service support., • Work collaboratively with team members to improve workflow and efficiency., • Active Class A CDL required., • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in diesel, gasoline, and small engine repair., • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and welding/fabrication is a plus., • Experience in managing a team or leading a shop/field service crew., • Willingness to travel for fieldwork as necessary., • Must reside within 40 miles of Rock Tavern, NY., • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. This position does not have supervisory responsibility. Expected Hours of Work: An Employee is expected to work a minimum of forty (40) hours per week. Non-exempt employees are eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws, while exempt employees may be required to work additional hours as necessary to fulfill their job responsibilities. Overtime requirements will be determined based on the operational needs of the organization.
