Job Description We are looking for an experienced Shop Manager to join the team at C&C Lift Truck. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the forklift/heavy material handling industry and be able to organize, prioritize and schedule the work to ensure the shop runs smoothly and efficiently. The successful candidate will be able to work independently, communicate effectively with leadership, customers, staff, and manage multiple projects at once. The Shop Manager reports to the Service Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Oversee the performance of shop employees to obtain efficiency on all work performed by the department., • Meet with all shop staff members as needed to assign duties, review progress, set goals, address problems, and maintain communication within the departments., • Actively manage and approve all lunch breaks, overtime, vacations, unpaid leave, and other staffing requirements so that the department runs efficiently., • Develop and implement programs for equipment repair; including but not limited to, customer equipment, short- and long-term rentals and planned maintenance., • Coordinate that all shop employees have the proper tools and parts to complete assigned jobs by maintaining the shop with the necessary tools, technology, and special equipment., • Maintain inventory of all repair units in shop., • Schedule all pick up and drop off of repair units., • Oversee maintenance and repair of delivery vehicles., • Ensure that all road tech vehicles are maintained properly, cleaned, and are safe for use by our employees., • Set up new road vehicles to be ready for work., • Communicate with customers as needed on all shop repairs, including lead times, next steps, and schedules in order to maintain exemplary customer satisfaction., • Exercise appropriate expense controls to maintain maximum profits in accordance with mutually determined goals., • Control work in process for the department to ensure prudent cash flow for the company., • Bill storage fees for all units with no movement and no response., • Coordinate with the Sales Department regarding the repair and delivery of sold equipment., • Coordinate with the Rental Department regarding the repair and delivery of rental equipment., • Meet with the Parts Department on a weekly basis to discuss upcoming requirements and ensure a timely and profitable flow of parts., • Oversee the shop safety, including but not limited to meetings, documentation, hazard correction, accident investigation, and compliance with all OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies., • Provide training to new and current employees regularly; including but not limited to safety programs, instruction manuals, equipment, and product technology., • Supervise preparation of required documentation; including but not limited to, work orders, parts lists, timecards, warranty claims, hazardous waste manifests, and management reports., • Prepare written quotes as needed and assist Service Writer in quote production., • Monitor, approve and personally close all warranty work for timely completion and ensure that parts are retained and organized for possible OEM returns., • Ensure that employee uniforms are presentable for all employees wearing uniforms, including rental and parts employees where applicable. Approve and process all uniform billing from our vendor., • Interview, hire and terminate shop personnel under the direction of Owner and Service Manager., • Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • High school diploma or equivalent required., • One to three (1-3) years of industry experience in material handling/forklifts and a minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience., • Ability to exercise judgment and work independently., • Strong customer service skills., • Strong verbal communication skills., • Ability to handle difficult customer situations., • Demonstrated consistency, accuracy, and follow-through., • Ability to meet work hour demands as needed., • Valid driver’s license.
