Job Description Job Summary The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating daily school bus routes, communicating with drivers, and ensuring safe and timely transportation of students. This role monitors routes, responds to issues in real time, and works closely with drivers, maintenance staff, and school administrators to maintain efficient transportation operations. Key Responsibilities • Coordinate and dispatch drivers and buses for daily school routes, field trips, and special assignments., • Monitor bus routes to ensure on-time performance and safe operations., • Communicate with drivers via radio, phone, or dispatch software to provide updates and instructions., • Respond quickly to route delays, breakdowns, accidents, weather issues, or other transportation emergencies., • Maintain accurate records of driver assignments, route changes, and daily operations., • Assist with route planning and adjustments as needed., • Coordinate substitute drivers when regular drivers are unavailable., • Work with the maintenance department regarding bus availability and repairs., • Communicate with schools, parents, and company management regarding transportation updates when necessary., • High school diploma or GED required., • Previous dispatch, transportation, logistics, or customer service experience preferred., • Experience in school transportation or fleet operations is a plus., • Knowledge of local roads and school districts preferred., • Strong communication and problem-solving skills., • Ability to stay calm and make quick decisions in emergency or high-pressure situations., • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities., • Basic computer skills and ability to use dispatch software and radio systems., • Office environment within a transportation facility., • Frequent communication with drivers via radio or phone., • Competitive hourly pay, • Paid time off and holidays, • Training opportunities
