Job Description BronxWorks helps individuals and families improve their economic and social well-being. The Living Room is the BronxWorks central location for its adult homeless services. BronxWorks operates three 24-hour programs that include a drop-in center, a 50-bed safe haven for chronically street homeless adults, and our borough wide mobile street outreach program. All of the programs provide direct services to street homeless individuals in the Bronx including case management, food, clothing, emergency shelter, referrals to NYC shelters, and permanent housing placement. RESPONSIBILITIES • Ensure that building superintendent and staff maintain all aspects of building’s systems in good condition., • Responsible for ensuring the maintenance staff receives all the appropriate training to maintain the facilities safety standards., • Supervise vendors and ensure expenses are properly documented and payments quickly made., • Maintain the work order management system in place for consistency across all BronxWorks sites., • Operate quickly to cure any violations to keep building up to code., • Ensure all maintenance staff have access to the appropriate personal protective equipment and that staff are using the equipment properly., • Provide crisis intervention 24 hours a day regarding all aspects of building’s systems., • Conduct monthly inspections of entire facility including all major building systems., • Oversee the maintenance of equipment and furnishings, and control supply distribution., • Plan, develop, implement, and assess operations policies and procedures for the facility., • Manage the collection, presentation and reporting of operations data including incident reports, registration information, and school departure reports., • Ensure regulatory compliance and that all required licenses and certificates from the Fire Department, Buildings Department, Department of Health, and all other pertinent city and state agencies are current and valid., • Ensure cross-shift communication., • High School Diploma, five years supervisory experience or Bachelors degree preferred; Experience initiating and developing building cleaning standards to conform with high levels of expectation., • Basic plumbing skills, such as the ability to snake clogged waste pipes and repair faucets., • Ability to understand, operate and oversee the proper maintenance of fire panels in all building facility., • Ability to safely change GFIs and other electrical outlets and switches., • Ability to identify mold conditions and know the steps for proper mediation., • Certification in operation of all fire department standards such as Standpipe with City Mains, Fire Drill Conductor, Maintenance of I side Alarm System and Supervision of Low PSI Oil Burner., • Proficiency in standards applied by the OSHA and Department of Health for kitchen operation, youth programs and congregate social service programs., • Security and fire safety licenses: (Can be obtained while employed), • Security and fire safety licenses:, • F02, • S12 (City-wide Sprinkler System), • P99 (Low PSI Oil Burner), • S13 (Standpipe), • S14 (Standpipe), • F85 (Only at Willow / Fire Safety Director/ Active Shooter and Medical Emergency Prep), • OSHA General Industry Safety & Health, • Strong computer skills including proficiency with MS Excel or other spreadsheet program., • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods., • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds., • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time., • Ability to climb five flights of stairs Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents., • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation., • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather. The Pyramid Safe Haven is a 125-bed, low barrier shelter operated by BronxWorks for chronically street-homeless single adult men. Located in the Melrose section of the Bronx, Pyramid follows a Housing First model and provides on-site services including case management, psychiatric and medical care, substance use counseling, meals, showers, and housing placement support. Referrals are made exclusively through NYC's Street Homeless Outreach Teams (HOT). The program focuses on building trust and engagement while supporting clients in transitioning into stable, long-term housing. Job Description Church of the City New York is looking for a committed and proactive Safety Director who will provide specialized expertise to develop, implement, and oversee safety and security policies for Church of the City. As an independent contractor, the Safety Director will operate autonomously, offering services on a project-based and event-support basis, ensuring the safety and security of the church community. The role is part-time and project-focused, providing flexibility and independence in work execution. Contractor Status and Autonomy To align with contractor classification: • The Safety Director will independently manage their schedule and determine the methods, tools, and resources needed to fulfill the deliverables outlined in the contract., • The role will focus on project-based tasks, with specific goals and outcomes outlined in a written agreement., • The contractor will supply their own equipment and software for work, excluding church-provided systems necessary for collaboration., • The contractor will not receive employee benefits, such as health insurance, paid time off, or retirement plans., • The contractor may offer their services to other organizations, provided there is no conflict of interest.
