Job DescriptionIndustrial Maintenance Technician — Food Processing Location: Somerset, NJ Compensation: $25–$28 per hour + full benefits Employment Type: Direct Hire Schedule: Mon, Wed–Sat, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (Tue and Sun off). During probation: Mon–Fri, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (if possible). A day in this role Start your shift with PPE on and a quick safety sweep of your area. You’ll open the maintenance queue, review work orders, and prioritize preventive tasks that keep our plant-based food production lines running smoothly. Before lunch, you might swap a worn conveyor belt, change a motor bearing, and trace a pneumatic line using a schematic. In the afternoon, you could diagnose an HVAC fault affecting a room’s temperature, coach a teammate on lockout procedures, and document completed work so trends are tracked and future downtime is reduced. Throughout the day, you’ll collaborate with production, coordinate vendors for parts, and look for ways to boost equipment efficiency. What you will do • Own safety: follow all rules, wear required PPE, and keep the workspace clean., • Execute preventive maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems., • Read and close out work orders with clear documentation and equipment data tracking., • Improve uptime and efficiency through root-cause fixes and continuous improvement ideas., • Support and occasionally supervise or train staff to elevate team capability., • Partner across departments; coordinate parts, inventory, vendors, and contractors., • Maintain and repair facility utilities and production equipment., • Develop maintenance plans and hit performance targets., • Participate in committees that drive safety and reliability.What you bring, • High school diploma required; technical school preferred., • 2+ years of experience as a manufacturing mechanic; food manufacturing preferred but not required., • Hands-on ability in plumbing, wiring, welding, and drilling., • Comfort reading electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics., • Experience replacing motors, belts, bearings, pulleys, sprockets, chains, and cylinders., • Strong problem solving, multitasking, communication, logic, and attention to detail., • Able to lift up to 50 lbs., • Comfortable with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.You’re proficient in, • Plumbing, • Preventive Maintenance & Inspection, • Electrical Installation and Electrical Repair, • HVAC Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and Repair, • Welding setups for production, • General maintenance and repair, • Mechanical systems and component repair, • Equipment installation & wiring, • Equipment repair & maintenance, • Machine safety inspectionsMachines and technologies you’ll use, • HVAC systems, • Conveyor systems Keywords: Production maintenance, facility maintenance, preventive maintenance, motors, belts, bearings, pulleys, sprockets, chains, cylinders, troubleshoot machinery.
