Position Summary: The Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) will play a vital role in delivering high-quality general dentistry care. This position includes performing advanced clinical duties as permitted by state law, assisting the dentist during procedures, and ensuring patients feel comfortable and cared for throughout their visit. Job DescriptionThe mission of the Lead Dental Assistant role is to increase the efficiency of the dentist and the team in the delivery of quality oral health care.Clinical Support: • Prepares operatory for the guests and is an integral part of the guest experience flow., • Prepares guest for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting and seating, • Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area; positioning instruments for dentists' access; suctioning; passing instruments., • Provides materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the guest's mouth., • Provides diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies; pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts., • Maintains guest appearance and ability to masticate by fabricating temporary restorations; cleaning and polishing removable appliances., • Helps dentists manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory., • Documents dental care services by charting in guest records., • "Traffic control" of patient flow and assist the doctors in guiding them to ensure proper flow in the studio., • Ensure that all lab cases are ready and pulled for the following day schedule., • Assist in the efficient transition of new doctors and/or dental assistants to ensure better acclamation to the office., • Ensure proper dental assistant coverage in the office on specialist days and/or to cover vacations or sick days.
