Job DescriptionJob Title: Patient Services RepresentativeJob Description This role provides front desk and patient support in a busy, patient-focused medical office. The Patient Services Representative welcomes and checks in patients, manages scheduling and phone calls, verifies insurance, and supports clinical flow by rooming patients and collecting vitals as needed. The position requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining a warm and professional demeanor. Responsibilities • Greet and check in patients in a professional, friendly, and patient-focused manner., • Schedule patient appointments and manage inbound and outbound patient phone calls., • Verify insurance coverage, eligibility, and accepted insurance plans for each patient visit., • Explain copays and financial expectations clearly to patients at check-in., • Support Patient Service Representative (PSR) functions during slower patient periods, including general front desk and administrative tasks., • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient information within the electronic medical record (EMR) system., • Coordinate patient flow in a fast-paced healthcare environment to ensure timely and efficient visits., • Provide excellent customer service while handling high patient volumes and multiple demands., • Collaborate closely with front desk staff to support approximately 100 patients daily., • Navigate scheduling demands of 20+ appointments per day and 35–40 patient interactions per shift., • Room patients and collect vital signs as required, following clinical protocols., • Communicate effectively with clinical and administrative team members to resolve scheduling and patient-related issues., • Maintain a calm, professional presence and positive attitude when managing busy periods and patient concerns.Essential Skills, • High school diploma or GED., • Experience in a medical role such as medical receptionist, medical assistant, surgical scheduler, or patient service representative., • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical scheduling processes., • Experience working with electronic medical record (EMR) systems., • Customer service skills with the ability to provide a warm, professional, and patient-focused experience., • Understanding of insurance plans and basic healthcare administration, including eligibility and verification., • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a busy medical office environment., • Strong interpersonal skills with a warm, approachable, and non-confrontational demeanor., • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Prior front desk experience in a healthcare setting, in any specialty., • Medical assisting experience, including rooming patients and collecting vitals., • Knowledge of insurance verification procedures and healthcare administration workflows., • Comfort managing high patient volumes and multiple phone and in-person interactions per shift., • Dependable work style with a strong sense of initiative and ownership over tasks., • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and colleagues., • Strong attention to detail when entering and updating patient information in EMR systems., • Preference for working in a friendly, close-knit team environment with minimal micromanagement.Work Environment The role is based in a medical office that operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The facility is open every other Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with Saturday shifts assigned on a rotation so that coverage is typically required about once every 12 weeks. The position is paid for 8 hours daily. You will work closely with four other team members in a friendly, close-knit environment where colleagues genuinely enjoy working together. The culture is positive and supportive, with a manager who is approachable and hands-on, and with regular celebrations such as birthdays and office decorations that foster strong team morale. The office is busy enough to keep you engaged, supporting approximately 100 patients daily, but is not as chaotic as many larger medical practices. Team members are trusted to do their jobs without being micromanaged, making this a strong fit for someone who is dependable, takes initiative, and enjoys working independently while being part of a collaborative team. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mountain Lakes, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
