Job DescriptionJob Title: Assistant Superintendent / Carpentry Field Operations Lead Job Description This role oversees daily carpentry and field operations across multiple commercial construction job sites throughout New Jersey. The Assistant Superintendent / Carpentry Field Operations Lead coordinates crews, manages work orders from multiple clients, and ensures projects progress safely, on schedule, and to a high standard of quality. This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced carpenter and foreman who is ready to step into a senior leadership track with clear growth opportunities and performance-based bonuses. Responsibilities • Coordinate and supervise field crews and carpenters across multiple active job sites throughout New Jersey., • Receive work orders from multiple clients, prioritize them effectively, and schedule and delegate tasks to appropriate crews., • Serve as the primary point of contact between field crews, clients, and internal leadership, ensuring clear and timely communication., • Ensure crews are properly staffed, equipped, and aligned with daily and weekly work plans and project objectives., • Monitor quality of work, productivity, and job progress to ensure deadlines and project milestones are met., • Troubleshoot field issues, resolve conflicts, and remove obstacles to keep projects moving efficiently., • Support the training, mentoring, and development of carpenters and crew leads to build strong, capable teams., • Maintain a strong and visible field presence, leading by example in safety, workmanship, and professionalism., • Use construction management tools, such as Procore, and other systems as needed to support scheduling, documentation, and coordination., • Collaborate with leadership to support company growth, new crews, and the expansion of the organization’s footprint.Essential Skills, • Proven track record as a carpenter with progression into a foreman or lead role., • Strong experience coordinating multiple crews and job sites simultaneously in commercial construction., • Hands-on carpentry skills with the ability to understand and guide field work in detail., • Experience working with or for a general contractor in a commercial construction environment., • Excellent communication skills with the ability to take direction and clearly delegate tasks across multiple teams and clients., • Strong organizational skills and reliability, with the ability to manage competing priorities across several projects and clients., • Comfort working independently and making day-to-day decisions in the field to keep projects on track., • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between job sites throughout New Jersey., • Construction supervision and construction management capabilities, including planning, scheduling, and oversight., • Familiarity with Procore or similar construction management software., • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training, or the ability to obtain it promptly.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Carpentry and masonry trade experience with a strong practical understanding of field conditions., • Experience in commercial construction environments and with general contractor operations., • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and lead field crews and carpenters on various job sites., • Proven ability to interpret work orders, understand client expectations, and translate them into clear, actionable tasks., • Experience supporting the training and development of carpenters, apprentices, and crew leads., • Interest in long-term growth into senior leadership, including potential progression to a project executive role., • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement in field operations.Work Environment The role splits time between office and field work, with approximately 50 percent of the time spent in the office and 50 percent on job sites throughout New Jersey. In the office, you will handle scheduling, coordination, communication with clients and leadership, and use construction management tools such as Procore to manage documentation and workflows. In the field, you will work on active commercial construction sites, overseeing carpentry and related trades, monitoring safety and quality, and providing hands-on leadership to crews. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairfield, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $48.00/hr.
