Job Description Job purpose A Daytime Warehouse Associate is a highly physical role. The purpose of the position is to offload trucks and confirm that all product received matches the purchase order and to accurately record and safely store inbound products in the proper location in our warehouse. In addition, a daytime Warehouse Associate may pick, prepare and pack orders for delivery. Duties and responsibilities • Prepare the receiving dock for incoming orders and maintain a clean and orderly workspace., • Assist shipping and receiving by unloading trucks and checking in merchandise; track and monitor all inbound product for that day., • When receiving product in, breakdown Purchase Order (PO) by item on a separate pallet., • Verify product and quantities with purchase orders., • Handle all products with care to avoid damages and loss, • Compare packing list to the product received, all numbers should match. If not, note this on the packing list and inform the Operations Supervisor or the VP of Operations., • When doing “put away” confirm total by pallet/cases from dock status to reserve location., • Use pump pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, sit-down hi-lo forklift, stand-up hi-lo forklift and safety ladders to stock product on warehouse shelves., • Fill out pre and post trip sheets for fork lifts and pallet jacks., • Communicate daily with department representatives regarding inventory and incoming shipments., • Maintain an orderly flow of product moving through the warehouse, ensuring accurate and efficient movement, • Prepare orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling materials; packing boxes; placing orders in delivery area, • Prepare parcels for mailing, • Pick up damaged items when found and bring them to the appropriate area for assessment and repackaging, • Place any odd ball cases found in pick slots in the correct pick location., • Pick slots: fill using the right block and tier, avoid over filling, store additional product in reserve slot, level pick slots during the course of the day and keep like items in the same aisle as pick, • Record any and all moves in the RF gun every time, • Take initiative to accomplish open tasks; be proactive and seek additional work when available, • Safety: Complete safety training session and pass safety training test at time of hire and on an annual basis., • Safety: Act in compliance with safety practices and procedures throughout the warehouse. Job briefs and instructs on proper, safe and efficient performance of work including identification of risks., • Performs duties listed in the attached Job Task Analysis and incorporated herein., • Any of the functions/duties of the Assistant Conductor/Conductor may be performed by other qualified persons when necessary or appropriate and in compliance with the rules to achieve the safe, efficient performance of service to the railroad’s customers., • The Conductor may also perform Engineer duties as described herein if certified in compliance with Federal Railroad Administration regulatory requirements., • Previous railroad operations experience is not required. To be considered, candidates must have experience in at least one of the following items: relevant U.S. military experience, experience in a trade (welder, machinist, etc.), in an outdoor job (construction, laborer, etc.), as a CDL-A or B truck driver, warehousing and/or heavy equipment operation. Ability to read and transmit information via multiple media including written, radio and computer equipment., • Required to have phone access to receive calls and work notification from Railroad., • Requires regular and timely attendance; work may be on a 24 hour on call basis 7 days a week consistent and in accordance with FRA regulatory requirements and Company policy., • High school diploma or equivalent., • To become an Assistant Conductor, the new hire trainee has to pass the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) Assistant Conductor Certification Test., • All Assistant Conductors have to pass the LIRR Book of Rules test and GCOR Certification., • Assistant Conductor and Conductor certification and periodic recertification consistent with federal and state regulations, • Assistant Conductor must successfully promote to Conductor and then to Engineer within timeframe set forth by the railroad and consistent with applicable labor agreement., • Works both inside and outside., • May be subject to various temperatures and conditions which may include extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, and snow., • Exposure to high noise level, moving mechanical parts, and moving rail and other heavy equipment., • Exposure to dust, fumes, gases, oil, and grease., • May be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals., • May require wearing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to steel-toe boots, ear and eye protection, high visibility wear, etc., • Elevated surfaces, slopes, and uneven surfaces including ballast.
