All of our positions are fully on-site in Parsippany, NJ. Job Summary We have an immediate opening for an associate counsel! Prior law firm or in-house experience is necessary. We are looking for someone with experience in executing corporate legal strategy across a diverse portfolio of matters and wishes to expand their experience in corporate and transactional matters at a rapidly growing company. Consumer finance/credit and/or automotive experience strongly preferred. In this role, you will ensure regulatory compliance and proactively set, and drive, B2B and B2C legal strategy. The attorney is responsible for ensuring compliance with State and Federal laws, contract drafting and negotiation, corporate housekeeping, identifying potential risk areas, and performing internal investigations. Secondary responsibilities will include reducing disputes through preventative legal advice and driving early resolution of disputes/claims. Practice areas include corporate, contract, automotive, consumer finance and credit, general commercial. Job Duties • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including licensing, consumer transactions, and disclosures., • Develop and execute corporate legal strategy., • Lead and conduct attorney-client privileged internal investigations that could result in liability for the company and/or its employees acting on behalf of the company, and/or that could result in significant reputational harm to the company., • Develop legal agreements, contracts, and documents needed for corporate entities., • Juggle numerous competing priorities and perform in a continually changing legal and regulatory environment., • Interface with company employees at all levels, including executive management and business employees and lawyers., • Develop, improve, and implement best processes for team. Demonstrate capacity for innovation in providing unique and creative solutions to complex legal and business issues., • Provide additional leadership within the department/company, including driving legal department initiatives and process improvement projects., • Keep abreast of legal developments and continue legal education in substantive areas as they relate to the industry., • Become a subject matter expert in our business and contribute to corporate governance and transactional matters including drafting and negotiation of various agreements and the provision of advice and counsel on general business matters., • Work closely with external counsel on appropriate matters to develop and drive overall litigation strategy, ensure compliance with company policies, manage litigation budget and drive cost savings. In consultation with outside counsel, recommend and monitor financial reserves for lawsuits and investigations. Requirements: • JD from an ABA accredited law school., • Admitted and in good standing with the NJ bar is required. Kindly do not apply if you are not admitted with the New Jersey state bar., • Undergraduate degree in business, accounting, finance or related field, • 2+ years of full-time counsel experience, either in a law firm corporate law department or in-house corporate law department., • Strong critical thinking, research, writing, and organization skills, • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization, • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization’s legal department and across all businesses, • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, juggle numerous priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment., • Ability to manage and prioritize work in a very fast-paced environment, • Strong leadership/management skills, • Ability to engage proactively across a broad range of client groups, • Technologically savvy and detail oriented Come join our growing team here in Parsippany!
