Job Description T&M Associates is seeking an experienced Inspector to serve as Resident Engineer on Municipal, County and Agency infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead high-impact projects, including roadways, bridges, water and sewer systems, and municipal facilities. Responsibilities: • Lead and manage the inspection and quality assurance of complex transportation and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, safety standards, and permit requirements., • Supervise and mentor a team of inspectors while coordinating daily construction observation activities, including field testing, commissioning, and schedule verification., • Serve as the primary liaison between clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders, fostering strong communication and resolving project-related issues efficiently., • Perform Resident Engineer and Project Manager-level duties, including oversight of construction schedules, staffing reports, payroll certifications, and labor documentation., • Review and coordinate contractor submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and maintain detailed inspection records and reports., • Ensure contractor compliance with safety plans, environmental permits, and all applicable regulations while minimizing public disruptions and coordinating with adjacent projects., • Support budget and schedule management by identifying and solving complex field challenges in collaboration with the project team (Owner, T&M, and Contractors)., • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field preferred., • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction inspection or a related field, with significant experience on County and Agency projects, including NJDOT, NJTA, NJT, etc., • Required certifications include: NICET Level III or IV in Highway Construction or equivalent, NJSAT, ACI and TCC certification. Ability to obtain any required certifications within 6 months is acceptable., • Bridge construction inspection experience (rehab & new) a plus, • Knowledge of NJDOT and NJTA standards, procedures and software., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position is responsible for performing building sprinkler inspections including testing devices, recording and generating results, and providing reports. Duties include assisting both the Lead Inspector and/or Inspection Manager in collecting data and generating any necessary paperwork (Sprinkler Inspection Reports, Quick Reports, and Inspection Certificates). The pay range for this position is $22-$30/hr depending on experience. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * Ensure that all inspections are completed on a timely basis and that inspections are done accurately and thoroughly. * Testing of all building sprinkler control panels, devices, and functions of the sprinkler system and entering the test results into the Palm handheld device. * Upon completion of an inspection download the information and generate a completed Sprinkler Inspection Report. * Participate in monthly team meetings. * Perform other duties assigned by management. Education/Qualification: * College Degree is preferred; however, a High School diploma or equivalent is acceptable with acceptable experience. * Study and learn NFPA standards for the inspection and testing of fire protection systems. Stay current with code requirements, and industry changes, and obtain NICET certifications * Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and be customer service oriented. * Must be able and willing to work within a team environment. * Sprinkler experience is preferred but not required. * Proficiency in using test equipment including sensitivity test equipment, multi-meters, battery analyzers, sound level meters, and communicating devices. * Need good networking PC skills including use of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and use of Palm unit operating systems. * Reliable transportation to and from the office or job site. * Must be punctual. Being on time is critical due to the need to perform sound tests prior to building tenant arrivals. Other Duties: * Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy. * Performs other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements: * Industrial, Commercial, & Residential building environment with moderate to high noise levels, and comfort with working at heights * Mostly a physically demanding role. Most of the daily demand is standing and walking stairs and climbing ladders. * May need to lift objects up to 50 pounds. * Ability to be on the phone and computer consistently throughout the day. POSITION SUMMARY: Remington & Vernick Engineers is looking for a NICET Certified Professional (or equivalent) with expertise in inspecting heavy highway, intersection improvements, and bridge rehabilitation/reconstruction projects. This professional will assist in the project record keeping, measuring and tracking daily quantities as constructed, and generating daily inspection reports. This individual is expected to have an extensive background in construction inspection with clients such as local County government agencies, NJDOT, the NJTA, DRPA, and DRJTBC. PRIMARY DUTIES: • Act in the capacity of Lead Inspector to conduct construction supervision and field inspection of the work in progress to determine if the work is proceeding in accordance with the Contract Documents, both alone and/or as part of a team., • Work collaboratively with other engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and local improvement projects., • Work with clients to inform the public about upcoming work and potential impacts. Work with the contractor to minimize disruptions to the public., • Provide and maintain all records related to the project in question including daily quantities., • Possess strong communication, computer, and writing skills and be experienced with the review and comprehension of CPM Schedules, • Support the Project Manager / Resident Engineer with all project submittals and requests for information, ensuring the proper Engineer performs the necessary review and/or guidance., • Keep a logbook of all observations and daily activities for ongoing work and provide the client with daily reports to include all labor trades, equipment supplied by Contractor, and measured pay quantities., • Review applications for payment with Contractor and make recommendations for progress payments to the Client., • Prepare a final punch list at substantial completion and perform final project review for project closeout., • Perform additional responsibilities as required by project and business needs. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: • Good communication skills, with the ability to work with others and the public., • Self-motivated, organized, and focused, with good attention to detail. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • High School diploma or equivalent, • Minimum of 5 years of experience with 2+ years of experience on projects $5M or greater, • Experienced on bridge, and highway construction projects, • Must be familiar with NJDOT specifications and documentation practices., • Possess a combination of NJ County, NJDOT, NJTA, DPRA, and DRJTBC experience Certifications/Licenses Required • Valid Driver’s License, • NICET 2+ Highway Construction Inspection or equivalent required, • ACI-Concrete Field Testing Technician, • NJSAT Asphalt Paving Construction Technologist, • Rutgers TCC certification SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY This position has some supervisory responsibility. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee works primarily in the field and may be exposed to outside weather conditions. Work requires full range of motion and ambulation, climbing ladders or crawling in tight spaces. Requires technology and computer use to file project, time, and expense reports.
