Job DescriptionJob Title: Production Associate Job Description The Production Associate supports daily manufacturing operations in a food production facility by following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all requirements described in the company’s HACCP plan for SQF compliance, sanitation, traceability, and quality standards. This role assembles and disassembles production lines and equipment, maintains adequate levels of chocolate in processing tanks, works collaboratively on the production line, keeps workstations clean, monitors processes, and completes documentation and other tasks assigned by management. Responsibilities • Follow all safety procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) as outlined in the company’s Food Safety and Quality Programs., • Assemble and disassemble production equipment such as extruders and enrobing machines according to established procedures., • Load raw materials, including chocolate chips and yogurt, into processing tanks in the correct quantities and sequence., • Set up, operate, and monitor flow pack machines, including changing film or paper, adjusting settings for mini and regular bars, and ensuring consistent performance throughout the shift., • Place packaging materials into machines as required to support continuous production., • Monitor the production process and adhere to production guidelines, specifications, and quality standards for various bar sizes., • Report any food quality or food safety issues or concerns promptly to management or the Food Safety Committee., • Communicate any deviations observed during the process—such as unusual waste, incorrect packaging, incorrect printing, weights out of specification, or equipment issues—to supervisors or leads., • Perform basic quality and testing checks, including weight checks, metal detector verification, and monitoring for tunnel condensation., • Document and complete reports for quality assurance (QA) checks and product traceability as required., • Ensure production equipment remains stocked with necessary materials to maintain efficient operations., • Inspect products and packaging for defects or nonconformities and take appropriate action when issues arise., • Maintain a clean, organized workstation and help keep the overall production area in a clean and orderly condition., • Report and record production waste according to company procedures., • Support general packaging, filling, and inspection activities as needed to meet production targets.Essential Skills, • 1 year of packing work experience, preferably in a food processing facility., • Ability to follow and apply cGMP and food safety guidelines consistently., • Experience operating or supporting filling, packaging, or related production machinery., • Ability to monitor production processes and identify deviations from specifications., • Basic skills in documenting and completing reports for quality assurance and traceability., • Ability to perform basic quality checks, including weights and metal detection., • Capability to assemble and disassemble production equipment with guidance and training., • Strong attention to detail in handling packaging materials, product labeling, and equipment settings., • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in a production or cleanroom-like environment., • Basic communication skills to report issues and collaborate with supervisors and team members.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • High school diploma or GED (General Education Development) preferred., • Prior experience in a food manufacturing environment is highly beneficial., • Familiarity with HACCP principles and SQF or similar food safety standards is an advantage., • Experience working with flow pack machines, extruders, or enrobing equipment is a plus., • Comfort working in a cleanroom-style environment with strict hygiene and contamination control practices., • Ability to work collaboratively on a production line and support team goals., • Willingness to learn new equipment, processes, and quality requirements as operations evolve.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role operates in a food manufacturing facility that follows strict GMP and food safety guidelines. The standard schedule for this position is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 p.m. to 9:00 a.m., providing 36 working hours per week with compensation based on a 40-hour workweek. The production environment includes packaging lines, filling machines, extruders, enrobing equipment, flow pack machines, and cleanroom-style conditions focused on sanitation and contamination control. Team members work on their feet for extended periods, handle packaging materials and food products, and perform routine cleaning of workstations and equipment. To maintain product safety and quality, the dress code requires adherence to hygiene and contamination control rules, including no jewelry and no make-up while on the production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Piscataway, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
