Job Description Job Title: Material Handler / Forklift Operator Job Description This role supports a small warehouse operation by performing a full range of material handling and order fulfillment activities. You will pick orders using a cherry picker and other material handling equipment, pack and label products, and handle all aspects of shipping and receiving. The position requires frequent heavy lifting, consistent productivity, and a strong focus on accuracy and safety. Responsibilities • Pick and process orders using cherry pickers, reach trucks, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and warehouse management systems., • Assemble, pack, and stage shipments for UPS, LTL carriers, and company vehicles, ensuring accuracy in quantities, product descriptions, and packaging., • Load and unload freight safely and efficiently, including palletizing and general material handling., • Complete shipping documentation such as invoices, postage, BOLs, and customer‑specific instructions, including arranging insurance when required., • Support receiving operations by checking in inbound materials and performing put‑away to maintain accurate inventory., • Maintain inventory accuracy through scanning, counting, and verifying items during picking, packing, and shipment prep., • Assist with general warehouse duties including assembly, production support, and workflow coverage for other team members., • Uphold safety and organization standards by keeping work areas clean and following all safety procedures. Required Skills • Ability to stand on your feet for the entire shift., • Ability to stand for full shifts and handle physically demanding work, including lifting 50–75 lbs regularly, • Warehouse or manufacturing experience preferred, • Equipment operation experience (stand-up reach truck, cherry picker preferred, forklifts), • Material handling experience with pallet jacks (manual and electric), • RF scanner proficiency for inventory, picking, and put-away, • Shipping/receiving and order picking/packing experience (including labeling), • Ability to meet productivity standards in a fast-paced environment, • Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime, • Must wear steel-toed footwear on the warehouse floor Available Shift & Pay • 1st shift: 9am - 5:30pm, Monday - Friday, • $19 Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a small, hands-on warehouse operation where you will work primarily on your feet and engage in frequent heavy lifting. The facility is not temperature-controlled, so conditions may vary with the seasons, but large fans help keep the space cooler during warmer weather. You will work Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with overtime as needed to meet operational demands. Daily work involves operating equipment such as cherry pickers, stand-up reach trucks, sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and electric pallet jacks, and using RF scanners and a warehouse management system for picking, put-away, and inventory tasks. The environment is active and fast-paced, with a focus on accuracy, safety, and teamwork. Steel-toed shoes or boots are required as part of the dress code on the warehouse floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
