Job Description Position Summary: The Griff Network is seeking a reliable, hands-on, and accountable Converting Supervisor to lead daily production activities within the Converting Services department at 9 Headley Place. This role is responsible for overseeing slitting, sheeting, cutting, and die press operations while ensuring production schedules, hourly output expectations, quality standards, customer specifications, and safety requirements are consistently met. The Converting Supervisor will direct, coach, train, and hold operators and helpers accountable while providing hands-on support with machine setup, changeovers, troubleshooting, quality checks, material handling, production documentation, and shift communication. This individual will play an important role in maintaining production flow, reducing downtime and waste, improving workplace organization, and developing employees through training and cross-training. The ideal candidate will have manufacturing leadership experience and working knowledge of slitters, sheeters, cutters, die presses, or similar converting equipment. This person should demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, sound judgment, and the ability to lead by example in a fast-paced roll-to-roll manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities: • Lead daily production activities across slitting, sheeting, cutting, die press, and related converting work centers to ensure production schedules, hourly output goals, quality standards, and safety expectations are met., • Direct, coach, train, and hold operators and helpers accountable for attendance, workplace conduct, performance, productivity, safety, quality, documentation, and compliance with company procedures., • Assign daily work, manage staffing and break coverage, coordinate overtime needs, adjust production priorities, and communicate material, equipment, quality, or scheduling concerns to management., • Provide hands-on support with machine setup, changeovers, tooling, blade setup, web alignment, tension adjustments, roll loading and unloading, material handling, and other production requirements., • Monitor and verify first-piece, in-process, and final inspections, including dimensions, slit widths, sheet sizes, cuts, die press requirements, winding quality, material condition, labels, packaging, and customer specifications., • Place nonconforming materials or finished products on hold, ensure affected products are properly identified and segregated, document defects, and escalate quality concerns to the appropriate team members., • Troubleshoot machine, setup, material, quality, and process issues and coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, or management when additional corrective action is required., • Promote and enforce compliance with PPE requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, machine-guarding requirements, GMP practices, 5S standards, housekeeping expectations, and company safety policies., • Train new employees, reinforce work instructions and SOPs, cross-train team members across converting equipment, and support employee development and succession planning., • Complete and verify production records, labor reporting, scrap, downtime, output, quality documentation, shift pass downs and required Epicor or shop-floor system entries accurately and on time. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent preferred., • At least three years of manufacturing, machine operation, converting, slitting, sheeting, cutting, die press, packaging, or related production experience preferred., • At least one year of experience as a supervisor, lead, trainer, senior operator, or other manufacturing team leader preferred., • Hands-on experience setting up, operating, changing over, and troubleshooting slitters, sheeters, cutters, die presses, or comparable converting equipment strongly preferred., • Experience working with paper, film, foil, flexible materials, roll goods, packaging, laminating, coating, extrusion, or other roll-to-roll manufacturing processes preferred., • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and respond to equipment, setup, tooling, material, quality, safety, and production process concerns., • Ability to read, interpret, and follow work orders, production schedules, measurements, customer specifications, labels, drawings, SOPs, work instructions, and safety procedures., • Experience developing, reviewing, modifying, and implementing SOPs, work instructions, machine setup procedures, quality check procedures, and employee training materials is a plus., • Experience using ERP, shop-floor, production reporting, inventory, or manufacturing systems preferred. Epicor experience is a plus. Basic computer, data-entry, Microsoft Excel, measurement, and math skills are required., • Ability to lead, train, cross-train, coach, resolve workplace concerns, document employee performance, manage competing priorities, and hold team members accountable in a professional and respectful manner. Forklift certification or the ability to become forklift certified is preferred. The employee must be able to move materials, assist with machine setup, and work around production equipment in a manufacturing environment. The position requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and move materials weighing up to 100 pounds, with or without assistance. The employee must also be able to work for extended periods in a fast-paced production setting while following all safety requirements and wearing required personal protective equipment.
