Position Description Ariva is seeking a Program Director to join our leadership team. The Program Director is an experienced manager with demonstrated leadership abilities who works with us to develop, launch, execute, and evaluate effective programs that support vulnerable and underserved residents of our community. Ariva is one of the most established non-profit organizations providing free tax assistance in the Bronx. We are an IRS-sponsored VITA program and a Certified Acceptance Agent for ITINs. The program serves over 8,000 New Yorkers each year. The Program Director must have proven experience in managing, cultivating, and retaining staff. The Program Director will oversee a team of 5 full-time, year-round staff, 20-25 seasonal staff, and about 100 volunteers. This is a full-time position with an average schedule of approximately 45 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours during the income tax filing season. The position requires some evening and weekend availability to support community-based programs. During the main filing season (January–April), the Program Director may be expected to work most evenings and Saturdays. Face-to-face in-person service is an essential component of this position. This role involves frequent local travel to sites throughout NYC. Responsibilities The Program Director provides strategic and operational leadership for Ariva’s VITA tax program. The Program Director directly oversees projects and tax sites, supervises staff, ensures IRS-compliant service delivery, cultivates partnerships, and provides coverage as needed to ensure seamless, high-quality service at all sites. The Program Director's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Primary Responsibilities Program Leadership ● Set the overall vision and strategy for the assigned financial capability programs in alignment with Ariva’s strategic plan. ● Design, implement, and evaluate new and existing programs. ● Lead program budget development, monitoring, and financial reporting of assigned programs. ● Serve as a key contributor in agency strategy sessions with executive staff and the Board. ● Oversee contract management, including compliance and invoicing. ● Monitor performance and reporting for all assigned tax sites and projects, ensuring ongoing compliance with IRS and local funder requirements. ● Ensure a highly professional and client-centered environment at all tax sites. ● Identify, implement, and monitor tax time savings and asset-building initiatives. ● Coordinate program integration strategies with Ariva’s financial counseling program. ● Review and approve communications content (website, social media, outreach materials). ● Support succession planning and cultivate leadership capacity within the program team. Team Management & Operations ● Recruit, mentor, and supervise full-time program staff. ● Develop and implement long-term professional development and staff retention strategies. ● Recruit, mentor, and supervise site coordinators and seasonal staff during tax season. ● Ensure tax sites have adequate equipment, technology, and supplies. ● Maintain safeguards to protect client privacy and data security. ● Maintain a secure and accurate equipment inventory of laptops and peripherals, ensuring security and antivirus software are up to date. External Relations & Representation ● Represent Ariva in meetings with funders, city agencies, and external partners. ● Design and oversee community outreach and marketing campaigns that build a sustainable client pipeline. ● Develop and maintain a sizable client story bank. ● Cultivate and sustain partnerships with community-based organizations, financial service providers, and other host partners where the tax sites operate. The Program Director will also have lead responsibility for the following initiatives: ● Oversee Ariva’s ITIN program. Ensure that Ariva’s ITIN program is fully compliant with all IRS requirements. ● Oversee Ariva’s Senior Citizen Tax Initiative, a program focused exclusively on the tax needs of seniors in our communities. Core Competencies: ● Minimum five years of experience in income tax preparation, preferably some in VITA sites. Multiyear seasonal site experience is acceptable. ● Minimum three years of experience in program management, including direct supervision of staff. ● A demonstrated commitment to and experience working with low-income people and in low-income communities. ● Extraordinary customer service skills and high standards of professionalism. ● Skilled in managing, motivating, and supporting staff and volunteers. ● Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects with varying goals, requirements, and timelines. ● Ability to simultaneously manage several busy tax sites. ● Cultural competence to provide services to the diverse members of our community. ● Adept at building and sustaining strategic partnerships with funders, community organizations, and government agencies. ● Computer-literate; comfortable with data management, data entry, and reporting. ● Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including public speaking. ● Familiarity with CRMs, especially Salesforce and tax software (currently TaxSlayer) ● Contract or grant management experience and skills. ● Able to work in person and engage in frequent local travel to visit multiple tax sites, primarily in the Bronx. ● Willing and able to be flexible in their work schedule; able to accommodate evening and weekend hours to support the tax sites during tax season Compensation & Benefits ● Salary: $80,000 - $105,000, commensurate with experience ● Subsidized health and dental insurance ● Generous paid time off ● 401K retirement plan ● Additional employee benefits "Ariva is an Equal Opportunity Employer"

Classroom • Plans and implements the educational program for children by using Creative Curriculum and other resources. • Develop and utilize lesson plans, which reflect mandated elements, parental and cultural influences, and promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children. • Individualize one-to-one group activities to reflect the unique needs and strengths of all children in the classroom, including those who are at risk, those with special needs, those who are gifted, and those who are culturally diverse. • Follow a consistent schedule, which includes small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, language and literacy, problem solving, two or three daily meals, and effective transition between activities. • Encourage experimentation, exploration, cooperation, socialization, ask open-ended questions and listen respectfully to the answers. • Provide an atmosphere that promotes and reinforces parental involvement in the classroom. 2 • Work with other staff and resources in developing specialized planning for children/families as needed, such as speech, occupational, physical, psychological therapist and nutritionist. • Always supervise and monitor children., • Respond to crisis or emergency situations that may occur. Essential Duties Drive vehicles requiring a Valid Class B Commercial Drivers’ License full sized packer truck, mini packer trucks, and pickup trucks in a safe and efficient manner to provide park maintenance services such as picking up solid waste and recycling from designated drop spots within Central Park and other locations as needed Drive waste and recycling to designated dump locations and maintain accurate records Monitor park drop spots to ensure they are properly maintained and submit work orders for needed maintenance Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles, conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, and address or report any vehicle issues that may affect safe operation Assure that any vehicles used are properly fueled, equipped, lubricated, and serviced Wash interior and exterior of any vehicles used as needed including the packer trucks Immediately notify supervisor of repair needs or safety hazards related to the vehicles, tools, or any other hazards encountered in the field Collaboration & Communication Assist in preparation and clean up for special events as needed Engage frequently and in a friendly, professional manner with members of the public and volunteer groups Display initiative and dependability while working alone or alongside staff Related Work Perform snow removal and ice mitigation on paths, entrances, playgrounds, perimeter and other hard surfaces with machines and physical labor to provide appropriate levels of access as per established organizational standards Operate various types of equipment including utility vehicle Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report items that require repair Participate in all trainings and professional development Perform related work as assigned Minimum Requirements A four-year high school diploma or equivalent; and Demonstrated work experience; and Valid Class B Commercial Drivers’ License valid in the State of New York and must be maintained for duration of employment Ability to safely operate and drive packer truck with air brakes on assigned route within Central Park and New York City streets Ability to safely operate other heavy equipment including FELs and dump trucks Experience with hydraulic, rear loading compactor trucks Abilities Required Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of regularly scheduled shifts and occasional overtime as needed Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform heavy physical labor on a daily basis in all weather conditions Salary range: $55,000-$69,000 annually commensurate with experience.     PERC Shelter – Kitchen Helper Job Description Summary: The Kitchen Helper supports the kitchen workers in preparing and serving meals for up to 150 individuals in an emergency shelter and soup kitchen. This role assists with food prep, cleaning, organization, and ensures a safe and sanitary kitchen environment. Responsibilities: • Assist with preparing and serving daily meals, including lunch, dinner and snacks support, • Help with basic food prep such as chopping, assembling meals, and portioning, • Package, label, and store meals properly for refrigeration or freezing, • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, pantry, and dining areas, • Organize and restock pantry and kitchen supplies, • Assist with inventory tracking alongside kitchen staff, • Support use of leftovers and donated food for meal preparation, • Work with volunteers during meal prep and service, • Ensure kitchen rules are followed, including no client access to the kitchen, • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, • Perform other duties as assigned by the Cook or Shelter Staff Requirements: • Some food service or kitchen experience preferred, but not required, • Willingness to learn food safety practices and procedures, • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, • Strong teamwork and communication skills, • Comfortable working with volunteers and diverse populations, • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks efficiently, • Flexible schedule, including weekends or evenings as needed
