Job Description Works-in-Progress Associates (WPA) is seeking a Resident Engineer to become an integral part of our team! This position will work on-site at Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) projects within New York Cityβs five boroughs. Minimum Requirements: β’ Baccalaureate Degree in engineering/architecture or construction management from an accredited college or university is required., β’ New York State Professional Engineering (PE) License is required., β’ Minimum 10 years of related experience in any of the following areas: Water systems, tunneling construction or bridge rehabilitation and new construction or wastewater construction experience is preferred., β’ Experience working with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is preferred., β’ OSHA 30 certification is required, β’ A driver's license valid in New York State., β’ Demonstrated proficiency with all applicable software packages including but not limited to MS Windows; MS Office (including Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: β’ Provides all services necessary and required for inspection, supervision, management, coordination, and administration of the Project., β’ Supervises the work of the construction contractor to ensure that work is properly executed, completed in a timely fashion and conforms to the requirements of the construction documents and to good construction practice from NTP through the Close-Out phase., β’ Situated at the work location and is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the CM field staff., β’ Reviews contractor submittals for quality, compliance, and completeness prior to forwarding to the Engineer-of-Record. The RE provides technical support and guidance on all issues and leads the communication and outreach efforts for the project. Skills: β’ Ability to build and strengthen long-lasting client relationships by providing reliable service and project solutions., β’ Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all management levels., β’ Must have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills., β’ Must have strong organizational and time management skills., β’ Must be able to adapt and prioritize, meeting deadlines, in a fast-paced environment., β’ Operate with a sense of urgency, quickly responding to clients., β’ Demonstrated leadership, responsiveness, and accountability., β’ Detail oriented with strong analytical skills., β’ Proactive and take initiative. We have been in business for over 30 years and have completed well over 400 projects. We currently have somewhere between 40-50 employees. Because we are a woman-owned firm we are on contracts with larger Construction Management firms such as LiRo, Hill International, Jacobs, Tectonic, Gilbane, etc. and we help them to meet their WBE goals. We provide Project Managers, Inspectors, Estimators, Office Engineers and so on.
