Job Description We're seeking a Service Writer - Fire Truck Division to serve as the key liaison between fire departments, technicians, and leadership, ensuring service repairs are handled accurately, efficiently, and with the highest safety standards. If you're organized, customer focused, and experienced in vehicle service operations (especially heavy duty or emergency equipment), this is a unique opportunity to support mission critical work every day. Key Responsibilities * Serve as the main contact for fire departments and emergency service customers regarding maintenance and repair needs * Receive, review, and document service requests for fire apparatus and related equipment * Create accurate work orders detailing concerns, inspections, repairs, and parts requirements * Coordinate scheduling and workflow between technicians and customers to maximize shop efficiency * Communicate repair status, timelines, and costs clearly and professionally * Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, DOT requirements, and company quality procedures * Review completed work orders for accuracy and completeness prior to invoicing * Process warranty claims and required service documentation * Maintain organized service records, inspection reports, and maintenance histories * Support parts ordering and inventory coordination as needed * Promote safety, quality, and customer satisfaction in every interaction Qualifications & Experience * High school diploma or equivalent (technical or automotive training preferred) * Prior experience as a Service Writer, Service Advisor, or in fleet/vehicle maintenance strongly preferred * Experience with fire apparatus, heavy-duty trucks, or emergency vehicles is a major plus * Strong understanding of mechanical systems and repair processes * Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and service manuals * Proficiency with service management software and Microsoft Office * Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills Skills & Competencies · Professional and customer-focused communication · Strong problem-solving abilities · Time management and scheduling expertise · Team-oriented mindset · High level of accountability and integrity · Ability to work effectively with technicians and management Work Environment · Primarily based in a service facility with frequent interaction in shop areas · May require occasional visits to customer locations · Exposure to shop noise, equipment, and vehicles · Standard business hours with potential overtime during peak periods Preferred Attributes · Familiarity with NFPA 1911/1901 standards · Experience with General warehouse operations · Experience working with municipal or government agencies · Knowledge of fire apparatus electrical, hydraulic, and pump systems · Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development Why Join Island Tech Services? • Competitive pay and benefits package, • Opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-growing industry, • Supportive team environment with ongoing training and development Job Type: Full-time Benefits: • 401(k), • Health insurance, • Life insurance, • Paid time off, • Vision insurance
