Job Description General Purpose: Under the supervision of the Controller, the Senior Cost Accountant shall hold responsibility for supporting the financial and accounting operations for the Resins Business Unit. The Senior Cost Accountant is expected to provide accurate and complete financial reporting and support the manufacturing operations team. The perfect candidate will be someone who aspires to become a manager and leader of people. Essential Functions: Responsibilities that are requirements to perform the job: • Help lead the Resin Business (2 plants) accounting operations including month end close and financial reporting, • Monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting, financial, purchasing, and inventory activities are in accordance with SOX, GAAP, IFRS, and Company Policy, • Assist with the budgeting and forecasting process, • Perform the fixed asset accounting, • Prepare, analyze and present financial results, • Work with operations to understand and establish standard costs of manufactured goods, • Develop skills that can provide strategic analysis and financial advice, • Ability and desire to become an ERP-system (SAP) subject matter expert, • Support accurate inventory management. Participate in inventory counts and audits., • Help maintain and analyze the company's cost accounting system, • Participate in Bill of Material (BOM) set up, maintenance and review for manufactured items and assist in making estimates for new and proposed product costs. The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation: • Professional communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role, • Ability to work under limited supervision, • Ability to navigate a dotted line reporting and support structure, • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications, • Experience with budget preparation and financial analysis techniques, • Knowledge of contribution margin analysis and how it impacts profitability and fixed cost, • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and Excel are required, • Leadership, communication, presentation, problem solving and organizational skills are important, • Ability to adapt to and learn new software, • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently, • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts, • Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines, • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills, • Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting/Finance, • 5-10 years of related accounting and financial experience Sumitomo Bakelite North America Holding Inc., and all its affiliate companies, is committed to the principles of equal employment opportunity and non-discrimination.
