If you'd like to know more, check out all of the NU Facts. JOB SUMMARY Under specific guidance, the Storeroom Attendant assists in operating a central receiving and shipping station. Assists in maintaining a warehouse facility for maintenance, office and general supplies, equipment and keys complete with inventory controls. The Storeroom Attendant assists in various mandated inspections and maintenance of fleet. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Maintain storeroom coverage including incoming shipments., • Dispense campus keys, tools and materials to workers as needed to perform work orders., • Maintain EPA section of storeroom for controlled waste., • Inventory and maintain storeroom stock., • Submit purchase requisitions and pricing as directed by supervisor., • Load and unload merchandise, equipment and supplies., • Check stock against purchase orders for various departments, noting items received in Colleague., • Perform general labor in Storeroom and other buildings as necessary., • Deliver university supplies on a scheduled basis., • Deliver supplies, packages and materials to community., • Pick up supplies from vendors and deliver materials to job site for Facilities staff., • Follow all written procedures for Storeroom, Facility Services and Niagara University., • Fuel and arrange other service for department and other university vehicles., • Track all materials dispensed from Storeroom utilizing work orders and the TMA system., • Complete and close out work orders in TMA system., • Maintain confidentiality of information (including but not limited to: proprietary information, student and employee personal information, vendor information, pricing and cost information, etc.) both during and after their employment with the university. Any question regarding the confidentiality of material, should be referred to the supervisor. Any violation shall subject the employee to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment., • Receive packages for university students and notify Residence Life for pickup., • Inspect fire and emergency equipment, electrical and elevator equipment on a regular basis as required., • Perform other duties as assigned. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: % of Time 40% Dispense supplies, equipment, keys and packages. 30% Assist in maintaining storeroom for maintenance, office and general supplies and equipment complete with inventory controls. 10% Assist with vehicle maintenance under the direction of supervision. 10% Perform required inspections on various equipment pieces. 5% Maintain controlled waste section of storeroom. 5% Supply delivery and distribution of materials. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers with and without calculator to compute units of issue., • Ability to operate a pick-up truck, gas forklift truck, pallet mover, hand pallet mover, hand truck and other material handling equipment, with or without reasonable accommodations., • Ability to repack a variety of materials in accordance with accepted Facility Services warehouse procedures., • Knowledge of purchase orders, packing slips, requisitions and other material handling forms., • Ability to operate the computer terminal as it relates to maintaining the recording of stock supplies and other material related to the department, including web advisor for requisitions, Colleague for receipt of items and TMA for work order entries., • Ability to receive telephone calls, respond to inquiries and effectively communicate with others., • Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately, with minimal direct supervision within two weeks after the employee begins work., • Ability to perform all the above essential job functions for a minimum of an eight-hour shift, with one-half hour unpaid meal break, without significant risk of serious injury., • Ability to work overtime to respond to off-hour emergencies., • Ability to work second shift and weekends when necessary., • Ability to operate office equipment including copier and fax machine. ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS: The functions of the position usually performed standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, heavy lifting of 50 pounds, climbing ladders, walking, carrying and other movements may be required. Tasks involving deliveries and maintenance involve extensive wrist and hand movement. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury to themselves or others. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS • High school diploma preferred; otherwise, any combination of education, training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities., • A minimum of three years experience performing similar tasks is preferred., • A valid New York State driver's license is required that satisfies both university and insurance company underwriting rules and regulations for driving a motor vehicle., • Ability to drive a university vehicle for the purpose of university business on a regular basis.
