Job Description LifeWay Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that joins the global movement against human trafficking by providing safe housing for women who have been trafficked and offering education to stakeholders on the issue. LifeWay Network (LWN) envisions a world in which human trafficking is eradicated and every survivor is strong, connected, and free. Founded in 2007, LWN is a New York-based nonprofit that addresses two critical needs in the anti-trafficking movement: educational programming to raise awareness of trafficking and therapeutic safe housing for women survivors of all forms of trafficking. LifeWay Network’s Safe Housing Program LWN serves both domestic- and foreign-born, female-identifying survivors of human trafficking, accompanying them through healing. LifeWayNetwork’s safe housing program has welcomed more than 155 women from more than 40 countries in our safe houses in New York State. Position: LifeWay Network seeks a mission-aligned, deadline-driven, and highly organized part-time grant writer to join our development team. The grant writer will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, developing compelling proposals and ensuring timely submission of grant applications and reports to secure financial support for LifeWay’s safe housing and education programs. This is a part-time, remote position (approx. 10 hours/week), reporting to the development director and working closely with the executive director and program staff. Key Responsibilities • Research & Prospecting, • Identify and evaluate grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, state and government sources that align with LifeWay’s mission and funding priorities., • Maintain a grants calendar with key deadlines and submission dates., • Grant Proposal Development, • Write clear, persuasive and compelling proposals, LOIs and reports that accurately represent LifeWay’s mission, programs, impact and funding needs., • Tailor applications to funders’ specific interests, guidelines and application processes., • Collaborate with the executive director and development director to review and finalize all proposals prior to submission., • Data Gathering & Collaboration, • Work with program staff to gather data, outcomes, financials and narratives necessary for grant applications and reporting., • Ensure alignment between program activities and grant deliverables., • Reporting & Stewardship, • Draft and submit grant reports in a timely manner, in accordance with funder requirements., • Assist in preparing funder updates, impact summaries and donor communications., • Support stewardship efforts through preparation of acknowledgement letters and supporting documents., • Grants Management, • Track all grants activity, submissions and deadlines in LifeWay’s donor database (DonorPerfect) and project management tools (e.g., Asana)., • Maintain detailed and organized records of proposals, funder communications and reporting obligations., • Administrative Support, • Support development department administrative tasks as needed, such as donor correspondence, database maintenance and fundraising collateral preparation., • Qualifications & Experience, • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, nonprofit management or a related field., • Minimum of three years of successful grant writing experience, or at least five years of equivalent professional experience with demonstrated transferable skills., • Proven ability to write persuasively and communicate program impact to a variety of audiences., • Familiarity with fundraising best practices, especially grant acquisition and donor stewardship., • Experience working in a remote environment with excellent time management and self-direction., • Skills & Attributes, • Strong commitment to LifeWay’s mission and values., • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills., • Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines., • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), donor databases (preferably DonorPerfect) and project management platforms (Asana preferred)., • Ability to synthesize complex program information into accessible and compelling narratives., • Excellent interpersonal communication skills for collaborative work with staff and funders.
