Job Description Job Title: Mechanic Job Description Join a high-volume industrial manufacturing facility as a hands-on Mechanic responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing filling, packaging, extrusion, and process equipment. In this role, you ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of production machinery by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and supporting automated and PLC-controlled equipment to maximize production uptime. Responsibilities • Perform maintenance and repair on filling, packaging, extrusion, and related production equipment to ensure reliable operation., • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to quickly identify and resolve equipment issues., • Maintain and repair industrial motors, pumps, and other production machinery components., • Diagnose equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions to restore operation and prevent recurrence., • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance activities to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life., • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production issues, minimizing impact on production schedules., • Work with Allen-Bradley PLC-controlled equipment to perform basic troubleshooting and support automated systems., • Support, troubleshoot, and maintain vision systems and other automated production technologies., • Perform equipment inspections and repairs, ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards., • Read and follow maintenance procedures, technical documentation, and equipment manuals accurately., • Support production changeovers and equipment adjustments to meet different product and packaging requirements., • Conduct cleaning and basic upkeep of equipment and work areas to maintain a safe and orderly environment., • Use hand tools, welding equipment, and industrial tools as needed to perform repairs and modifications., • Contribute to overall production uptime and reliability by proactively identifying potential equipment issues., • Collaborate with production and maintenance team members in a team-oriented environment to meet operational goals. Essential Skills • Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment., • Proven experience supporting filling and packaging equipment in high-volume production settings., • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, including diagnosing complex equipment issues., • Basic electrical troubleshooting experience up to 480V., • Basic Allen-Bradley PLC troubleshooting experience with production equipment., • Hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting experience in industrial applications., • Hands-on experience working with industrial motors and pumps., • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment., • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills with a focus on root cause analysis., • Ability to read and follow maintenance procedures and technical documentation accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Plastic extrusion experience strongly preferred., • Experience with automated filling, packaging, and process equipment., • Experience in industrial environments involving heavy equipment., • Ability to perform welding tasks as needed for repairs and modifications., • Experience using hand tools and industrial tools safely and effectively., • Familiarity with blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings., • Experience with PLC troubleshooting beyond basic functions is a plus., • Comfort working with vision systems and other automated inspection technologies., • Experience supporting equipment changeovers and adjustments in a production setting., • Attention to detail and commitment to safe, efficient equipment operation. The environment emphasizes equipment uptime and production efficiency, with a rotating production schedule and multiple shifts available, including second and third shift options with differentials. You will regularly use industrial tools and equipment in a setting that prioritizes safety, reliability, and teamwork. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Freehold, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
