Senior Fund Associate in Accounting Location: Girona As a Senior Associate in Accounting, you will play a key role within a high-performing team focused on delivering accounting and financial reporting services. You will act as a deputy to the Fund Accounting Manager, supporting the daily administration of accounting operations and ensuring timely delivery of all reporting obligations in line with service level agreements. This role requires a proactive and self-motivated professional who can identify issues, escalate them appropriately, and propose effective solutions. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring client needs are met while maintaining high-quality standards and compliance with established procedures. Key Responsibilities Bookkeeping and Reconciliation • Oversee bookkeeping activities and provide senior-level guidance to the team, • Handle complex accounting structures when required, • Support and monitor reconciliation processes, ensuring timely completion, • Review and validate cash and investment account reconciliations, • Manage accruals, deferrals, intercompany transactions, and other accounting entries Invoices and Fee Management • Process management fee calculations received from clients, • Review invoices for accuracy and ensure compliance with contractual agreements, • Validate invoices prior to payment Financial Reporting • Review NAV packages, Capital Account Statements, and quarterly reports, • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial data, • Prepare and review audited and unaudited financial statements, • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS or local GAAP), • Perform quality assurance checks on reports and reconciliations, • Coordinate external audits and implement recommendations, • File and publish annual accounts where required Compliance and Process Improvement • Act as a subject matter expert on regulatory requirements and reporting standards, • Monitor compliance with investment agreements and fund structures, • Lead initiatives to improve accounting processes and efficiency Supervision and Training • Supervise and mentor junior team members, • Deliver training on accounting processes and system functionalities Audit Support and Issue Resolution • Support audit processes by providing documentation and liaising with auditors, • Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during audits or reconciliations, • Review and validate payment instructions to ensure compliance and proper documentation Requirements • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field, • 2–5 years of experience in accounting, • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, • Additional European languages are a plus, • Experience working with auditors, depositaries, or regulatory authorities is advantageous, • Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CFA, or equivalent) are a plus What’s Offered • A collaborative and innovative work environment, • Opportunities for professional and personal development, • Exposure to modern tools and automated accounting processes, • Comfortable and well-equipped office environment, • Regular team-building and social events
