Job Description Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Global Head of Information Governance in our Global Business Information and Advanced Analytics Department. The Global Head of Information Governance is responsible for developing and leading the enterprise-wide strategy, frameworks, and operational policies that govern the management of all information during its lifecycle across Sompo International. This role ensures that all business-critical information—regardless of format or location—is properly managed, protected, and aligned with legal, regulatory, and operational requirements. The role is pivotal in ensuring the organization meets compliance and risk obligations, while also enabling efficient information use and supporting digital transformation initiatives. Location: This position will be preferably based out of our Barcelona office. Our business, Your impact, Shared opportunity What you will be doing: Strategic Leadership • Define and implement the global information governance strategy aligned with corporate risk management, compliance, and digital business needs., • Act as the enterprise authority on information governance matters and advise senior leadership, including the board, on emerging information risks and opportunities., • Contribute to enterprise-wide policies, standards, and frameworks governing information classification, retention, data privacy, and access control., • Maintain the corporate information governance framework & standards, ensuring it evolves with business and regulatory change, especially standards on data flow mapping, data flow risk analysis, records retention, data classification and other data standards including corresponding controls and control activities., • Ensure compliance with global and regional regulations regarding records management, data privacy, financial conduct, and operational resilience (e.g., GDPR, Solvency II, NAIC, CCPA) by managing global / regional programs and projects to implement new policies & regulatory requirements and controls., • Coordinate closely with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to assess and mitigate information-related risks., • Oversee the management of the full information lifecycle—from creation / collection, storage, use, sharing to archival and secure disposal., • Establish and enforce retention schedules and ensure defensible disposal practices in collaboration with Data Owners, IT, and Legal., • Work closely with IT and Information Security to embed governance requirements into information systems, platforms, and services., • Drive a company-wide culture of accountability and compliance in information handling., • Master’s degree in business administration, legal or computer science, or comparable education level, • Minimum of 10 years professional experience, preferably in financial services, • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in information governance and data privacy, • Relevant certifications are a plus We continuously evaluate and update our benefit programs to ensure that our plans meet the needs of our employees and their dependents.
