WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR ISGlobal and the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona are looking for a candidate research physician specialising in internal medicine and with special training in infectious diseases and tropical / imported diseases. This position is ideal for a candidate combining both clinical and research experience in infectious diseases willing to deep dive into malaria. The candidate will be part of the clinical trial team working at the International Health Department at ISGlobal / Hospital Clinic and will work nationally and internationally on the CUREMAL project. The CUREMAL (Innovative Transformative CURE for MALaria: Rapid‑Action Combinations to Replace Artemisinins) project, is a multicentre project to fight against antimalarial resistance, consisting on two sequential clinical trials on the development of new antimalarial drugs. ISGlobal is leading the WP on the clinical trials. The candidate will collaborate in research activities on malaria and antimalarial agents, building on existing collaborations. Responsibilities include clinical assessment, developing strategic research questions, designing and implementing research protocols, and developing and reviewing study documents, summarising findings and writing medical reports. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Contribute to the design and development of research projects including clinical studies (epidemiologic and clinical trials) and obtain grant funding in the field of international health., • Ensuring all study procedures are of good quality and are carried out per good clinical practices, with an emphasis on the clinical management of patients. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS • Medical Doctor with specialization in internal medicine., • Experience and knowledge on issues related to Global Health and International Health., • Additional profiles will be considered if highly motivated researchers in other related disciplines., • Previous experience conducting clinical research in infectious diseases., • Record of obtaining research funding and publishing in peer‑reviewed journals. LANGUAGE LEVEL • Fluent in English., • Spanish proficiency., • Basic knowledge of French is desirable. CONDITIONS • Contract: part‑time, 3 months., • Salary: According to ISGlobal internal salary scale., • Work‑Life Balance: 36 days off per year (23 vacation days + 13 personal days)., • Start date: July 2026.
