This full-time on-site position offers great opportunities for career growth. /ph3Purpose /h3pTo perform activities including brush cutting and general debris clearing to support activities of the District's electric crews, water/wastewater crews and meter readers to assist in accomplishing the District's mission and goals. /ph3Job Description /h3pRate of pay is $20.39 per hour, plus the value of benefits to regular, full-time employees. This position is open to full-time college students only. /ph3Essential Job Functions /h3ulliPerform work as required to cut weeds and brush, trim bushes, and maintain access to District facilities. /liliClear and clean around electric meters, water meters, fire hydrants, transformers and junction boxes as needed. /liliReport access problems and trees or brush that will require a chainsaw for removal to Supervisor. /liliReplace missing or faded decals on transformers and junction boxes per District specifications. /liliMeet and work with the public effectively and courteously. /liliAnswer customer questions and refer customer questions and/or complaints to the appropriate person or department. /liliResponsible for use, care and security of tools, vehicles, equipment and materials utilized. /li /ulh3Additional Job Functions /h3ulliReport observed damage to any District facilities to Supervisor. /liliOther duties as assigned. /li /ulh3Job Standards /h3ulliKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:ulliMath, reading and writing skills as related to job functions required. /liliBecome familiar with meter, hydrant, transformer and junction box locations in the assigned area of the county. /liliAbility to communicate clear and concise verbal instructions and information to coworkers, Supervisor, customers and others. /liliAbility to operate equipment safely and efficiently to facilitate completion of work. /liliAbility to work confidently around animals. /liliAbility to remain calm under pressure and to be courteous at all times. /liliAbility to work without close supervision and to make decisions compatible with prior instructions. /liliDemonstrate a positive attitude, good work ethic, promptness in work arrival and in accomplishing all tasks. /liliDevelop a working knowledge of safe work practices, accident prevention procedures, tools and equipment as related to job functions. /li /ul /liliEducation, Experience and Training:ulliHigh school diploma or equivalent required. /liliMust be a full-time college student. /liliMust be at least 18 years of age. /li /ul /liliOther Requirements:ulliPass a District physical examination and be able to perform essential job functions. /liliValid Washington State driver's license and a safe driving record. /liliEmployees moving from out of state must obtain a Washington State license in accordance with Washington State law. /liliMust wear and utilize personal protective equipment as required. /li /ul /li /ulh3Working Conditions /h3pThe job functions will be performed in indoor and outdoor environments, subject to adverse weather conditions and noise. They require traversing areas covered by brush and trees where footing may be poor and the ground uneven and/or water soaked. They require working with persons who exhibit many types of personalities and behaviors. The job involves working with and around livestock and/or pets and their behaviors, including potentially dangerous dogs. It requires work in close proximity to energized low-voltage circuits utilizing District-approved safety procedures.
