The Role A mid-sized, highly collaborative design studio is seeking an enthusiastic, confident, and experienced Senior Interior Designer to join its team. This is a senior-level position suited to an individual with a strong background in both interior design and interior architecture, and with proven experience delivering projects within the elderly care home sector. The role is ideal for someone who is confident taking ownership of projects, leading design development and technical delivery, and contributing strategically to the overall success of the studio’s work. The successful candidate will work closely with Associates and colleagues across all stages of the design and construction process, demonstrating initiative, leadership, and a high level of professional competence. This is a full-time position, based Central London. The studio offers a friendly, flexible working environment, with hybrid working and adaptable hours that support a healthy work-life balance. Key Responsibilities The Senior Interior Designer will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of interior architecture and fit-out projects to a high standard. This includes developing design concepts, preparing presentations using Adobe Creative Suite, and taking a lead role in FF&E strategy, specification, and procurement—particularly within the care home sector, where specialist knowledge is essential. A core part of the role involves advanced space planning and the production of comprehensive technical drawing packages, including detailed construction drawings and schedules. A strong command of Vectorworks is essential, as the role requires the ability to produce accurate, coordinated, and thorough drawing sets with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will confidently attend and lead client and contractor meetings, representing the studio in a professional and informed manner. They will coordinate with consultants, suppliers, and contractors throughout the lifecycle of each project, ensuring effective communication and delivery. Regular site involvement is expected, including site visits, reporting, and snagging, ensuring that design intent and quality standards are maintained through to completion. Requirements Candidates should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in interior design, interior architecture, or architecture, and have a minimum of eight years’ post-graduate experience working on UK-based commercial projects. Extensive experience in elderly care home interiors is highly desirable, particularly with regard to FF&E specification, compliance, durability, and user-focused design considerations. The ideal candidate will combine creative design thinking with strong technical expertise as an interior architect. Advanced proficiency in Vectorworks is essential, alongside working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. Candidates must demonstrate strong space planning ability, technical detailing skills, and confidence in producing full construction drawing packages independently. A solid understanding of UK building regulations relevant to commercial fit-out projects is required. The role demands excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, and proven experience leading meetings with clients and contractors. What the Studio Offers The studio offers a supportive, creative, and highly collaborative working environment where individuals are encouraged to take ownership of their work and grow professionally. As a mid-sized practice, it provides the opportunity to be involved in all stages of projects, with meaningful responsibility and direct client engagement. The working culture is friendly and flexible, with hybrid working arrangements and adaptable working hours (core hours 10am–4pm), allowing for a balanced and productive approach to work. The studio also supports ongoing professional development through CPDs and mentoring. Additional benefits include regular studio gatherings that foster a strong team culture, a loyalty scheme offering additional annual leave, and enhanced parental leave. Apply.
