  • Market Trader / Sales & Warehouse Assistant — Sicilian Dessert Brand
Market Trader / Sales & Warehouse Assistant — Sicilian Dessert Brand
    20 hours ago
    £14.8 hourly
    Part-time
    London

Casa Cannoli is a London Sicilian dessert business — fresh cannoli and tiramisù, sold at street markets and events across the city. We've been doing this for 15 years, and we're a small team looking for one more person to join us. What you'll be doing Running our market stall — serving customers, filling cannoli to order, handling cash and card. Working events, parties and private catering bookings. Restocking and keeping our warehouse in North London organised, checking deliveries and rotating stock. It's a mix of customer-facing and behind-the-scenes. No two weeks look the same. The hours, honestly Around 30 hours a week over 3 days on average. Most weeks follow a regular pattern: two days at our Kings Cross market, roughly 9:30am to 7:30pm, and one day in Chelsea, 9:30am to 4:30pm. They're long days, on your feet and mostly outdoors. Two things to be clear about. We cater events, which often come in at short notice, so we need someone who can pick up extra shifts when they land — usually weekends, sometimes evenings. Event shifts pay a higher hourly rate than your normal shifts, so they're worth having. And we're a team of two: when one person is on holiday or off sick, the other covers the extra shifts. It's the trade-off for a small team, and it cuts both ways — you get the same cover when you're off. December is busier across the board; the quieter winter months are lighter. What we're looking for Someone who's good with people and genuinely enjoys selling — most of the job is talking to customers. You'll need to be physically fit, as there's regular lifting and moving of stock and stall equipment. Weekend availability is essential, since that's when the markets and events run. Reliability matters more than experience; we'll teach you the product. Having your own car is a big plus — it means you can run events independently, and we pay mileage on top of your hourly rate. Not essential, but it'll open up more shifts for you. Interest in Italian food is a bonus. What we offer £14.80 an hour, above the London Living Wage and reviewed annually. Event shifts paid at a premium rate. Mileage paid when you use your own car for events. And a stable business — 15 years in, still growing — where you'll learn the whole thing, not just one corner of it. You must have the right to work in the UK.

  • WAITER / WAITRESS With Progression to Supervisor
WAITER / WAITRESS With Progression to Supervisor
    7 days ago
    £17–£21 hourly
    Full-time
    London

JOIN LA PETITE BRETAGNE FULL-TIME WAITER / WAITRESS With Progression to Supervisor La Petite Bretagne is a small, established 27-seat restaurant in Hammersmith, known for authentic Breton galettes, sweet crêpes and warm, personal hospitality. We are looking for an experienced full-time Waiter / Waitress who wants more than simply turning up, serving tables and going home.We are looking for someone reliable, mature and confident who can become an important part of our restaurant for the long term. The position will initially be focused on working on the floor and learning exactly how we operate. Once you understand the restaurant, our standards and our team, there will be the opportunity to gradually take on more responsibility and potentially progress into a Supervisor position. For the right person, our objective is simple: within the first two to three months, we want to reach a point where we can completely trust you to look after the restaurant, make sure the daily tasks are completed and help keep the team organised when required. We are a small restaurant, so we are not trying to make the position sound bigger than it is.There are no unnecessary management titles or layers. We simply need one very good person we can trust. A SMALL, STABLE TEAM One of the biggest advantages of working at La Petite Bretagne is the environment. Many members of our team have been with us for a long time. We know each other well, people understand their jobs and the atmosphere is generally calm, friendly and respectful. We are not a large corporate restaurant with constantly changing employees and different managers every few months. We are a small team.People work hard, help each other and then go home and enjoy their life outside of work.We believe that work should be taken seriously without becoming your entire life. That is why we try to provide: • Rotas published well in advance., • Consecutive days off., • A stable long-term team., • A friendly and mature working environment., • Independence and trust during your shifts., • Genuine work-life balance. Once you know the restaurant properly, you will spend much of your shift working independently without somebody constantly standing over you or telling you what to do.We trust good people to do their job. BUT WE WANT TO BE VERY CLEAR ABOUT THE JOB The environment may be relaxed and friendly, but the job itself is not easy. This is a hands-on position.Because we only have 27 seats, we operate with a small front-of-house team and you will often manage the floor independently. That means there isn’t one person for coffee, another person for clearing, another person for running food and another person for washing plates. You do the job from beginning to end.During a normal shift you will be responsible for: • Welcoming and seating guests., • Taking food and drink orders., • Making coffees and hot drinks., • Producing proper latte art., • Running food from the kitchen., • Serving guests., • Clearing tables., • Washing plates when required., • Polishing plates, glasses and cutlery., • Resetting tables., • Keeping the restaurant exceptionally clean., • Communicating with the kitchen., • Managing several tables simultaneously., • Dealing confidently with guest requests., • Keeping the entire front of house organised throughout service., • Completing opening and closing duties. You will be moving throughout the shift and constantly changing between different tasks. So while the restaurant itself is small, you need to be organised, fast and comfortable taking responsibility. If you prefer a restaurant where every employee has one very specific task, this probably isn’t the right position for you.If you enjoy having control of your floor, organising yourself and being trusted to get on with your job, you will probably love it. BARISTA & LATTE ART SKILLS ARE ESSENTIAL This requirement is completely non-negotiable.You must already be comfortable using a professional espresso machine. You must know how to texture milk correctly and prepare high-quality: • Flat whites, • Cappuccinos, • Lattes, • Cortados, • Other espresso-based drinks And you must be able to produce proper, consistent latte art.We can teach you our restaurant. We can teach you our menu.We can teach you our systems and standards. We cannot teach basic coffee skills from scratch for this position. If you do not already have genuine barista and latte-art experience, please do not apply. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR You don’t necessarily need to already be a manager.Strong experience as a Waiter, Senior Waiter, Head Waiter, Supervisor or Assistant Manager can all be suitable.More importantly, we are looking for someone who: • Is reliable and punctual., • Is naturally organised., • Works extremely well independently., • Takes ownership without constantly being asked., • Notices what needs doing., • Is warm and confident with guests., • Can remain calm during busy periods., • Has excellent attention to detail., • Takes pride in cleanliness., • Communicates well with the kitchen., • Can eventually help guide other team members., • Wants stability and a long-term position., • Has genuine hospitality experience., • Has excellent coffee and latte-art skills. Weekend availability is essential and non-negotiable.Long-term commitment only.No seasonal or summer applications. PROGRESSION TO SUPERVISOR We don’t believe in giving people impressive titles before they have had the opportunity to prove themselves. You will join us as a strong member of the front-of-house team.During your first two to three months, we want you to learn the restaurant properly. If you demonstrate the right attitude, consistency and ability, we can then gradually give you more responsibility. As Supervisor, this could include: • Making sure the daily task list is completed., • Helping organise the team during shifts., • Maintaining service standards., • Checking opening and closing procedures., • Keeping the restaurant clean and organised., • Dealing with small operational issues., • Making sure everyone knows what they are responsible for., • Keeping things running properly when senior management is not there. This will still be a hands-on position. You won’t suddenly stop serving customers or making coffees because you have a Supervisor title. You will work alongside the team while becoming someone we can rely on to make sure everything is running as it should. WHY JOIN LA PETITE BRETAGNE? • Competitive salary., • Generous service charge., • Monthly performance bonuses., • Complimentary staff meals., • Employee discounts., • Rotas published well in advance., • Consecutive days off., • Stable and established team., • Calm and friendly working environment., • High level of independence., • Trust and autonomy once trained., • Genuine work-life balance., • Opportunity to progress to Supervisor., • Performance-based recognition and rewards., • Long-term opportunities within the business. WHO WILL ENJOY WORKING HERE? Someone who likes hospitality but doesn’t want the politics and chaos that can sometimes come with large restaurants.Someone who enjoys being trusted.Someone who likes having their own floor and organising their own service.Someone who is happy to get their hands dirty — whether that means making a beautiful flat white, carrying food, clearing a table or washing a stack of plates.Someone who works hard during their shift but also values having a life outside of work. And most importantly, someone looking for a stable place where they can stay, develop and become part of a team that has already been together for a long time.If that sounds like you, we’d love to meet you.
