Manufacturing Project Engineer Location: Greater Manchester Job Type: Permanent Salary: Competitive - £50-60k DOE We are working with a company within the defence and heavy engineering sector who are looking to appoint a Manufacturing Project Engineer to support their machining operations and engineering projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join a technically advanced manufacturing environment, focused on CNC machining, process improvement, and project delivery. The Role You will support CNC machining operations while leading and delivering engineering and manufacturing projects from concept through to completion. Key responsibilities include: • Providing technical support across CNC machining operations, • Designing and developing fixtures, jigs, and work-holding solutions, • Selecting cutting tools and optimising machining strategies, • Improving tooling, machining methods, and process efficiency, • Creating and maintaining SOPs, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation, • Delivering training to operators on processes and best practices, • Managing engineering projects using structured methodologies, • Planning and tracking activities using Microsoft Project, • Leading machine installations and commissioning activities, • Coordinating with suppliers and contractors, • Supporting Lean and continuous improvement initiatives, • Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, • Milling experience, • Experience designing fixtures and selecting cutting tools, • Proven track record improving machining processes, • Experience creating SOPs and manufacturing documentation, • Proficiency in AutoCAD, • Project management experience within engineering or manufacturing, • Experience using Microsoft Project, • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. SAP), • Evidence of delivering cost savings or efficiency improvements, • Strong communication skills, • Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2), • Previous experience as a machine operator, • CAD experience (e.g. SolidWorks or Inventor), • Experience within precision engineering sectors such as aerospace, automotive, or defence, • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Kaizen, TPM), • A practical, solutions-focused approach to engineering challenges, • Comfortable working from technical drawings and engineering specifications, • Able to manage workload effectively and prioritise tasks in a busy environment, • Flexible and able to respond to changing project and production demands, • Confident communicating with internal teams as well as external suppliers and partners, • Driven to identify improvements and enhance processes where possible DCS Recruitment and all associated companies are committed to creating a working environment where diversity is celebrated and everyone is treated fairly, regardless of gender, gender identity, disability, ethnic origin, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marital or transgender status, age, or nationality
