Behavioural Teaching Assistant (Team Teach Qualified) Location: Wakefield, WF2 Start Date: January 2026 (ASAP) Duration: Ongoing (Potentially July 2026) Contract Type: Temporary, Full-time We are searching for a dedicated and resilient Behavioural Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs in the Wakefield area, WF2. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students access learning, regulate behaviour, and develop positive relationships within the school environment. A Team Teach qualification is essential for this role. What the role involve: • Provide behavioural support to individual pupils and small groups., • Apply behaviour management strategies in line with school policies., • Use Team Teach approaches to support de-escalation and positive handling when required., • Support pupils with emotional regulation, engagement, and social development., • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff., • Maintain accurate records of behaviour, incidents, and progress., • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Requirements for the role: • Valid Team Teach qualification (essential)., • Pupil Referred Unit work experience., • Experience in supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour, SEN, SEMH, or ASD., • Calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour management., • Strong communication and teamwork skills., • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils., • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
