School Administrator / Receptionist Location: SuttonStart Date: 1st of JuneContract Type: Long-term (with potential for permanent)Hours: Full-time, 8:00am – 4:00pmSalary: £110 – £130 per day (depending on experience) A welcoming and busy primary school in Sutton is seeking a professional and organised School Administrator / Receptionist to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative experience who thrives in a fast-paced, front-facing role. About the Role: As the first point of contact for pupils, parents, staff, and visitors, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school office. This position requires a calm, professional individual who can manage multiple priorities while maintaining a warm and approachable manner. Responsibilities: • Manage the school reception, greeting visitors and handling enquiries, • Answer and direct phone calls, emails, and face-to-face queries, • Maintain accurate pupil and staff records, ensuring confidentiality at all times, • Support safeguarding processes, including logging and reporting concerns, • Assist with general administrative duties including filing, data entry, and correspondence, • Work closely with senior staff and support the wider school team Requirements: • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above), • Strong IT skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel), • First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training, • Safeguarding awareness training or willingness to complete Experience: • Previous experience in an administrative or receptionist role, • Experience handling phone, email, and in-person enquiries, • Experience managing sensitive or confidential information, • Experience working in a school or educational setting (desirable), • Experience in a busy, front-facing environment, • Familiarity with SIMS (highly desirable), • Understanding of safeguarding processes, including recording concerns Key Skills: • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively, • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, • Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and care, • Friendly and professional manner as a key representative of the school Personal Qualities: • Approachable, calm, and reliable, • Discreet and trustworthy when handling confidential information, • Punctual and dependable, • Able to work independently and as part of a team, • A genuine, child-centred approach What We Offer: • A supportive and collaborative working environment, • Opportunities for training and professional development, • The chance to play a vital role within a busy and welcoming school community Commitment to Safeguarding: Reed is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
