Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer ready to step into a leadership role? We are looking for a talented Mechanical Manager to join our team and take charge of guiding a team of skilled Mechanical Design Engineers in producing high-quality 3D models and technical drawings. In this role, you will provide clear technical direction, oversee the entire design process, and ensure that all mechanical outputs meet safety, quality, and cost-efficiency standards. As the Mechanical Manager, you will have full responsibility for the development and performance management of the engineering team, while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: • Leadership & Line Management: Manage and mentor Mechanical Design Engineers across multiple sites, including recruitment, performance reviews, and capability development., • Technical Direction: Lead the team in delivering accurate 3D models, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials that meet project specifications, company standards, and regulations., • Project Integration: Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure smooth integration of mechanical designs with overall project needs., • Continuous Improvement: Drive process development and efficiency improvements in the team’s 3D modelling and drawing production workflows., • Sub-Contractor Oversight: Evaluate and verify sub-contractor performance, ensuring all outputs align with project scope., • Compliance & Quality: Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 procedures, maintain standards, and participate in audits as required., • Support Project & Bid Teams: Assist with configurations, engineering time, concept designs, and support on-site visits to ensure successful project delivery. Essential Qualifications & Skills: • Qualification in a relevant design or engineering discipline (HNC, degree, etc.)., • 10+ years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred) and PDM systems (Autodesk Vault preferred)., • Strong understanding of technical drawing standards (BS 8888) and machinery design regulations., • Excellent grasp of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture (DfMA)., • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and resources effectively., • Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers., • Strong people management skills and attention to detail, with a commitment to high-quality work., • Excellent understanding of checking designs, drawings, models and technical documentation., • Full UK working rights, unable to offer sponsorship.
