Senior Design Engineer – Geotechnical Engineering \n The Company \n Our client is a leading specialist geotechnical contractor delivering complex foundation and ground-engineering solutions. Its expertise includes bored and displacement piling, diaphragm walls, mini-piling, grouting, anchors, ground improvement and environmental engineering. \n The Role \n The Senior Design Engineer will develop competitive, buildable engineering solutions from work-winning and concept design through to project completion. The role is focused on helping secure projects, improving site margins and supporting successful operational delivery. \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Develop holistic geotechnical and foundation designs rather than focusing solely on individual pile elements.\n, • Produce efficient, competitive and buildable solutions in collaboration with estimating and operational teams.\n, • Apply performance-based and observational design approaches where appropriate.\n, • Review and interrogate project information, resolve technical requirements and incorporate agreed inputs into the final design.\n, • Provide technical and design support across estimating, preconstruction and project-delivery teams.\n, • Deliver clear technical handovers, including anticipated risks and pre-agreed mitigation measures.\n, • Attend client meetings and manage internal and external stakeholder expectations.\n, • Support innovation and the development of new geotechnical techniques.\n, • Contribute to engineering KPIs, process improvement and technical benchmarking.\n, • Provide training, mentoring and knowledge-sharing across the engineering team.\n, • Gather feedback from estimating and operational teams to drive continuous improvement.\n\n About You \n\n • Experienced in geotechnical, foundation or related civil-engineering design.\n, • Able to develop commercially competitive solutions that consider efficiency, buildability and operational risk.\n, • Strong understanding of personal and team technical limitations, with the judgement to seek appropriate support.\n, • Confident presenting technical solutions to clients, consultants, site teams, supply-chain partners and internal departments.\n, • Agile, resilient and comfortable working in a changing project environment.\n, • Innovative, collaborative and willing to challenge established approaches.\n, • Accountable, determined and able to work with humility and sound technical judgement.\n\n Benefits \n\n • Competitive salary and discretionary annual bonus.\n, • Salary-sacrifice pension with a minimum 5% company contribution.\n, • Private medical insurance, income protection and life assurance.\n, • Enhanced sick pay following probation.\n, • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service.\n, • Option to purchase additional annual leave.\n, • Paid professional memberships.\n, • Employee Assistance Programme.\n, • Volunteering days.\n, • Ongoing professional development and international career opportunities.\n\n Our client is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from suitably qualified candidates from all backgrounds.
