Hardware Engineer | Edinburgh | £30-40k DOE Were looking for an engineer to join a disruptive semiconductor company developing ground breaking technology in a fast-moving environment. Responsibilities • Design, develop and validate high-speed digital electronics, FPGA solutions, embedded software and application software., • Build and automate product testing and characterisation using Python, developing repeatable test plans and customer-facing technical reports., • Support customers and partners with technical evaluations, demonstrations, training, integration and first-line technical support., • Represent the company at customer sites, trade shows and industry events, feeding customer insight back into product development and engineering Technical Requirements • Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related subject, with some relevant industry, internship or project experience., • Exposure to electronics design, including schematic capture (e.g. Altium/OrCAD) and hands-on hardware bring-up, debugging and rework., • Experience or academic/project exposure to C, Python and FPGA design, with an understanding of software development practices. Personal Requirements • Fast learner and naturally inquisitive, able to quickly understand new technologies and apply them practically., • Proactive, reliable and adaptable, with the confidence to work autonomously in a rapidly changing environment., • Strong communicator who can translate technical problems between customer engineering teams and internal engineering., • Detail-oriented team player with a genuine enthusiasm for engineering and modern development practices, including AI-assisted workflows. Bonus Skills • Experience working across the hardware/software interface, particularly where system constraints and interfaces are critical., • Exposure to high-speed digital design or FPGA development., • Experience with automated testing, technical documentation, specifications or customer-facing engineering., • Comfortable combining hands-on development with customer visits, demonstrations and field engineering, including international travel.
