Working independently across your designated region, you'll carry out planned maintenance, respond to urgent repairs, and support store projects, ensuring our teams can focus on delivering great customer service.This position offers:Salary of £29,913Fully expensed company vanMobile phone and tablet provided30 days holiday (with the option to purchase more)Pension scheme24/7 Employee Assistance ProgrammeStaff discount across Heron Foods and B&MA varied, hands-on role with autonomy and opportunities to develop37.5 hours per week, typically 6am–2pm (flexibility required)About the RoleYou'll be responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a portfolio of stores throughout Hull, Scarborough, Skegness, Newark and surrounding locations , helping to ensure our stores remain safe, compliant, and operational.Working closely with our Facilities team, Store Managers, and external contractors, you'll provide practical maintenance support across a wide range of building and equipment requirements.Your responsibilities will include:Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across our retail estateCompleting repairs including basic plumbing, joinery, plastering, tiling, painting, flooring repairs, appliance repairs, and first-line electrical tasksConducting routine inspections and safety checks, including PAT testing and fire alarm checks where requiredMaintaining store fixtures, fittings, shelving, bollards, and general building fabricRecording completed work accurately and maintaining maintenance documentationSupporting store refits, openings, and improvement projectsWorking with external contractors and ensuring all work meets health and safety requirementsResponding promptly to urgent maintenance issues to minimise disruption to store operationsWhat You'll NeedAt least two years' experience in maintenance, facilities management, or a relevant tradePractical skills across areas such as plumbing, joinery, decorating, flooring, or general property maintenanceBasic electrical knowledge (PAT testing or electrical qualifications desirable)Good understanding of health and safety practicesStrong problem-solving and organisational skillsAbility to work independently and manage your own workloadExcellent communication skillsIT literacy and confidence using tablets or mobile devices to log jobsFull UK driving licenceFlexibility to travel across the region and undertake occasional overnight stays when requiredDesirableExperience within a multi-site retail or commercial environmentKnowledge of fire alarm and security systemsRelevant maintenance or trade qualificationsAbout Heron FoodsHeron Foods is part of the B&M Group and operates more than 340 stores across the UK.
